ROOK!!!!
Thank you George Washinguns! Or Teddy Swoleseveldt, I gotta say, Me too on cant wait to see the whole bike finished!! Some of the backwards steps: The Brembo calipers from the '14 GSXR 1000, by all accounts needed the spacers I had ready to use with the 320mm Braketec rotors. Nope. Not only did I not need the spacers, but after considerable precise measuring, I concluded that the calipers were 3mm too far out sitting flush on the stock caliper mount brackets. A machinist pal of mine is milling 3mm off the bases of the Brembos. Pics to follow.
Through all this front brake scrutiny, I discovered that I had in fact put the rotors on the wrong sides of the front wheel. HAH. Better to catch it now, jeez.
I did have a small victory tonight with the rough initial fab of the POD300 bracket base, I think it's gonna work out nice right there, still access the fork adjustments and the clutch res...and the extra couple mm thickness of the SS bracket means gold aluminum ProBolts to the rescue on the clutch lever clamp assembly. Bring the Bling!!

That's pretty close to how I plan to mount my LCD200 after I run out of space in the dash with my gauges going in there someday. I'm also going to move the reservoirs back to the Master cylinder clamp bolts. Get rid of the control pods and shorten the bars, too.

Getting rid of the control pods would be a sweet little project!
You talking an extensive Rook Racing switch panel with all the controls smartly gathered?

The kill switch will become a lanyard, the starter button will be near the relocated ignition ON switch and the horn I don't even have on the bike anymore. Just need a turn signal switch and a headlight switch although the headlights are coming out someday too.
All I care about on the handle bar is a nitrous button!

Yes! I dig all those ideas. Where are the lights going? Daytime use only? I am disappointed that track plastic is not readily available for these big beasts. I will just get an ebay set of skins and go with it...
So here is the actual plate for the velcro mount POD setup in its approximate locale and tilt. I will weld the base bracket to the lower rear sector, not the edge though. As it is stainless, more lightening holes will likely be made. Still have to clean up edges and such.Your text to link here...

Scenes from the rocket bench staged for this weekend; the odd Suzuki parts to rebuild the calipers when they're back home from the machinist. Pads for upcoming track days, fluid for the big front brake system install and clutch line upgrade. Just for CRUDE a sampling of the aforementioned stickers for proper application of FLAIR where needed!

I'd mix and match used OEM fairings on Ebay or spray paint them all flat black. Chinese fairing have been known to blow off and you'll be hitting 130 mph.

Are those front pads? The Gen2's caliper must be different. I have 4 square pads on each rotor and they all have a hole for the pins to go through.

I too have schemed on covering the light holes. Haha. I bought an LED headlamp from an outfit called Vision X. The model was a Light Cannon- OMG the most wicked headlight I have ever seen. Ran it on the chopper.

Thank you for the Catalyst link, I am on it. Yeah the plate will surely double as a mount for a lap timer as well.
The pads look diff because those Brembos are non stock- from the '14 GSXR 1000. No pins on a monoblock caliper.

Sculpy! Go for the hard blend for smooth surface with minimal sanding. Throw it in the oven for 10 minutes and you got yer plastic piece.
A VisionX is exactly what I want! Only about 3" deep and powerrful. Unfortunately, they don't have one even close to small enough in diameter to fit in the Gen1's headlight hole. 5.75" is way too big. I will probably have to make my own....out of Sculpy!

Yessir, I am in the get a race fairing lot. But that Sculpy is KICKASS! I see a lot of potential for fabrication fabulousness. I hope you do make some, soon. I have been busy with the reassembly and associated bleeding. Both brakes and knuckles. The 3mm mill job of the calipers was perfecto! A true custom set up. Yes they work very well, so far. I LOVE the POD300. Data logging is going to be miles deep fun. My own custom Rook Racing - Romans inspired map seems to be a powerful good running set up. 13.5 baby.

You could make a complete set of race fairings out of sculpy!! I bet it would cost more than buying then though!

A few views of the new Brembo / Braketech / Traxxion enhanced front end for the track assault this summer.
The rotor break in procedure went by the numbers.

The 14R has gray forks?!! Thought I saw that before. That is very nice. Looks great with e Traxxion Dynamics emblem! The whole front wheek looks hot! All you need now are some gold Probolts for the fender. BTW, you could drop a couple ounces by removing that deflector from the fender but that's your call. It will save you some rock strikes to the radiator for sure. I took the one off my busa and I've been fine without. Gold banjos someday too and hit that ABS sensor bracket with VHT gold. Anodize the axle nuts gold.
I find gold VHT is the best rattle can gold. It doesn't look like anodizing but it's not far off of some I've seen. There are anodized yellow spray paints that would work temporarily.
The cockpit looks awesome. That gas cap and damper look sweet! I'd paint the damper bracket gold (or black) and definitely the fork caps. POD bracket worked out great. I'd paint it black. Gold bolts for the brake MC.
This bike is way too nice for the track. I already know some people there are going t tell you that.
Just be cool and have fun. Don't get competitive where the 14 is at a disadvantage on those small corners at BHF. The price is too high. I've seen people go off and crash and it sucks even if its a ratty track bike. You wouldn't want to patch this baby up and ride it again. ..at least I couldn't stomach that.

Well this weekend is not just getting the zx ready. I am also in the throws of getting this trailer project finished. A freind sold me an enclosed trailer box without an axle for $200. I had some 3" square tube laying around the pole barn so frame fab was the task today. I bought this really cool Torflex axle assembly and will pull this up to join it with the box this coming week. I'll have about $600 in the whole trailer. Seems like a good deal.

No the Torflex is just a real cool style of torsion arm suspension that is quieter than leaf springs and each side is actually independent.
Yes I did pick up that small tilt style 8'x 5' a couple months back. I have relegated it to mower, welder, stuff hauler once I started considering all the schtuff I'd like to have on hand for a proper track day.
