Has anyone tried to remove the catalyzer material in the stock pipes? How much weight is there? I'm thinking about doing some carefull hacking of my stock system.

Obviously a real system is preferred but since I'm installing a PCV and autotune, there ought to be some improvement in exhaust velocity to be gained by removing that crap. Shortening the cans a bit and repacking should also shave some weight and change the tone a bit. Getting a back-up is a good idea though.

Well, as it turns out I just need a 06-07 header which is cat-less. Problem solved.

New development - 08 header, the outlets are larger diameter than earlier models making midpipes different. If someone can confirm this that'd be great. Otherwise I'm gonna follow this write-up.

Confirmed. If you use an '06-'07 header you will also need the stock cans and midpipes or a pair of S/O's specifically for an '06-'07.

I'm going to flow out the pipe no cat = Shebing.

I'm going to watch a cat pipe flow untouched = Shebing.

I'm looking at the early pipe w/out cat and the diameter is equal in flow to a cat don't chew know?

I'm looking at you now and did you gut the cat from a larger diameter pipe and the flow now fills the pipe it more slows down the flow you cooled the pipe pissing out = Shebangs!

I'm, I'm missing some grunt hear... How do I reinstall my cat sup witch choose messing with the engineering ear we go same ass flow don't you know?

I'm a gen1/gen2/gen3/slip me on if I'm a gen4.

I'm an O/D gasket is the same size fits any gen muffler end who said gen?

I was thinking the same thing, Hub. Looks like I can spend money, or I can make things complicated... and spend money. lol I usually do the latter. That's just how I roll.
