RE: fine throttle response problem

we can now establish the symptom is caused by a lean mixture.

maybe but it could be that the AFR is now rich and the richness is covering up some other problem that is heat related. Remember the cooling effect of a rich AFR.

If we (for the sake of conversation) assume the secondaries have been removed, it would stand to reason, the added air flow from absent secondaries would be the reason for the leaned mixture. Again, if this is true, and the map isn't 'looking' for added air flow from missing secondaries, this very well could be what's caused the lean condition at 3000 RPM and below.

That also seems to fit the scenario but I don't remember ever hearing of a 14 running rough because of removed flies.

Before any mods on my 08 zx-14, I felt a light surge of power at about 3200 rpm (in addition to the jerky throttle response off/on throttle at very small TP% and low rpm). Other than that, the engine was very smooth.

Removed flies. Everything else stock. Still ran as smooth as before. No change in power I could feel and the surge was still there. Basically, removing the flies made no difference. It's safe to say just removing flies on my 08 made 0 change in light to moderately aggressive riding.

Removed flies, PC5, Dynojet map for stock, flies out. No difference.

Removed flies, PC5, Tsukigi Canon, reputable tuner's map made on an 08 ZX-14 with Tsukigi Cannonn, BMC Race filter and flies out. STill no change in the 3200 surge in power. Still had the low throttle, low rpm hiccup.

Removed flies, PC5, Tsukigi Canon, reputable tuner's map made on an 08 ZX-14 with Tsukigi Cannonn, BMC Race filter and flies out, DJ AutoTune. After I accepted trims one time, there was a big improvement in smoothness at 3200 rpm where the flies open. The bike still ran as good in all other respects. Still had the the low off/on throttle, low rpm hiccup. Didn't know what I was doing with Autotune so decided it best to leave it alone until I had time to learn how it worked.

Removed flies, PC5, Tsukigi Canon, Roman's map for 08 ZX-14 with full system (probably Akrapovich) and flies out, DJ AutoTune. Regarding the surge at 3200 rpm, that was as good or better than the previous map that had one Autotune trims application. Still has the hiccup when the engine is warm at small TP and low rpm, still runs smooth in all other respects.

There's my flies out history. In a nutshell, it does NOTHING on an 08 and it will still surge unless you tune that out. Flies out will not make the engine run rough even on stock fueling.....but maybe an aftermarket pipe is just enough to make it run a bit lean. Never tried that combo.

Try jumping the clutch switch and see if the problem goes away....

I don't know if you're serious here Ivan but the clutch switch?? You mean the button that allows the bike to start in gear with the lever pulled? ...is that a hack to locking the bike in Neutral mapping or are you pulling our chain?
