Just bought my first ZX14

I took her out to the freeway last night and really opened her up for the first time. It kind of scared me how fast it gets to 180 mph. Not to mention the bike is bulky and takes some serious lean to get through a corner.

What do you guys do to really enjoy this bike? Where do yall go?

Mmm a track sounds like a fantastic idea. Chuckwalla opens in september I believe.
As for the drag strip, do you struggle with power wheelies in first gear?

Chuck in Sept is ~117F, not that much cooler in Sept but look into Auto Club Speedway and Fasttrackriders the facility is nice and the garages are a nice "cooler" hangout

Slap some bags on and travel. My 2012 ZX14r weighed only 8lb. heavier than my 1989 ZX10 Ninja. This Bike is a Ballerina compared to the Bikes of old.

Power wheelies ? Yes they are a struggle all the time but it is a learning process.

It kind of scared me how fast it gets to 180 mph.

LOL congrats! That's as fast as I ever dared to go.

What do I do for fun on mine? ...well a lot of mods and wrenching never hurts but then you really feel like you need to go fast. Truth is the bike's too fast for the street. I rarely do more than 100 and the older I get the less I do it. I have pressed my luck enough and can't afford to get busted for reckless driving at this point. Also an awful lot of large animals where I now live.

I mostly ride twisties and keep it below 70 mph. A few power wheelies now and then and maybe a few high speed sprints up to 160. I won't risk being seen doing that anymore. I think the track is where I will have to take my thirst for speed. Costs money but so do tickets and jail. I took the 14 to a small road racing track twice and enjoyed that a great deal but I will tell you right now, you start doing that and you will trade the 14 in for something smaller. They all do. I would have a 600 if I seriously got into closed course road racing. You got just the thing for LSR and drag racing.

Track is fun but yes as rook said you will look for something lighter and smaller. The 14 can hustle around the track and I had a lot of fun but I did it to get more comfortable for open road riding. These bikes do great on the open roads like canyon carving or river roads and mountain roads.
This is the kind of roads the big girl likes.Yes it was fun!
