Yeah blue, it was at you. I just don't like repeating myself with regards to the original questions I posted. There were a few that were unanswered and I think it would be extremely helpful to have the whole picture. He has some good stuff to go on to check out.

Just didn't want to butt in if it wasn't in regards to me.I was up later last night(with him).Probably why he spoke more about what I asked than the other questions.

Hi Loadedmind,
Apologies for not getting back to you on all of your questions ( but like Blue says - this is SA brother & perhaps we have a different way of explaing things !!! Ha Ha )

How many miles are on the bike? - 28 000Km (17 500miles)
Have the plugs been replaced since the bike's first creation? - No
Have you installed anything on the bike that would involve wiring of any kind? - No
Do you have any codes show up on the display at all? - No
Have you checked all of the fuses? - Yes
Do you have a Power Commander or any other mod? - No
Have you checked the kill switch to ensure wiring looks good? - Yes
Check all of your grounds and ensure that, wherever they're attached, the area has been sanded down. I found out the hard way that, when I installed my BackOff brake modulator, the area under the seat is black powdercoat, not bare metal. I had to sand off the powdercoat and only then did it behave properly. - Have not installed anything
Any loose wires anywhere? - Have checked, did not find any
Visually inspect each and every cable that isn't heat shielded with tape from the factory (in other words, exposed) and ensure it has no cracks or copper exposed from within. - Have not done this

Hope that I have answered your questions. Thanks once again that all you guys are so prepared to assist me with this very annoying problem.

Hey Deon...It BETTER have one!Yours would be the FIRST 14 in all history to start without one (actually...that would be quite AMAZING really...maybe a "collector's edition" or somethin!)

Your top post said..."bike will then start when pushed"....okay...voltage going to starter?Intermittant loss of ground...bad relay maybe.IDK.I'm trying Deon!Starter hanging up,then when it's turned by pushing,it unsticks?HHmmmmm. After you've started it by pushing, can you turn it off and restart again with the starter?

I don't even know IF the starter can be turned with the engine ...Can it?

When you push start it,you're only turning the key "on",yes? Not hitting the starter as well, right? And pushing like in 3rd or something?(clutch in,then release?)

Howzit Blue,
I'm damn sure that I have not seen that tilt switch before but will make sure this evening !!!
Yep, bike will start when pushed ( in 2nd or 3rd gear - clutch in - release ) & then after that she will start normally (with starter button) for a LONG time, then cycle will start again. It is a good thing that my missus rides a lot with me as she has to do all the pushing !!!!!!!!! Do not think it is the starter hanging up 'cause I've "rocked" her many times in gear & that did not work. Even when starter button is pressed, not even the selonoid clicks in. Trying to answer all your questions here (so that I don't get crapped out again - LOL ! ). When bike is pushed, key ON, starter button not pressed. What has happened before was when I could not get her started by pushing (missus got tired or left behind !!), when I pressed starter button, she would start.

Hi Deon

Check the connections at the starter and have the starter motor checked. Had a similiar problem on my Busa. Where do you stay?

Deon

I am also in PE. I know now why you have been battling with the dealers. I have been battling with an intermittent electrical problem. Riding in rain or bike standing in rain a no no for me blows my ecu fuse under the seat. Always this small little niggles to drive you out the walls.
Cheers

Hi Paul,
What a co-incidence !!! Have to admit though that I have not taken my bike to dealer in PE (have not been here long ) but I would not anyway.

Hi Deon. Thanks for the info. I would recommend you post this same info on the boards at sport-touring.net as I'm not entirely sure where the problem may lie with what I know thus far. They have certified mechanics on that board and are more than willing to assist. Who knows, you might even find someone good in your area that could come by and help you in person. Be sure to include the questions/answers from here when posting in case they need to know. Please let us know if you find the solution and what it was. Good luck.

hey bud I looked on the parts fiche for the part(tip over switch) so you could see it there but as luck would have it it is not listed there (GO FIGURE ) so what I've done here is looked on ebay for the part to find a picture of one and this is what it looks like. Now where this is ,is under the wind screen on the right side just in front of the guages on the mirror stay(in the fiche it just showes two screws there, this part goes under one) and if you need me to show you I'll pull mine to show you in some more pics it just takes a min. or so to do hope this helps

I know the exact problem. I bought a zx 14 with 6500 miles. I road it from Camp Lejeune, NC back to home in Atlanta, Ga. On the highway, my bike would cut off and cut right back on ever so often ( while in motion). The bike eventually cut off and wouldnt come back on. So i pushed it to a gas station. Took it to the closest honda place on the highway and they had the tools to get to my battery, since none came with the ZX :(. The ground cable came loose. No ground means no crank. Just the fact it was LOOSE caused it to cut on and off or my luck....randomly never crank. It is located in your battery tray. take off the small black sub frame piece on the right side only (3) bolts and then use a socket wrench to pull the silver piece outside the battery to gain access to the battery. Pull it out and youll see it plain as day.

Also, there is a ground bolted under the seat on a silver bracket (attached to undertail plastic) that goes for your headlights, just incase they dont work and your fuses are good.

You can figure out everything on bikes just by totalling one and rebuilding it yourself. Hands down. Hope this helps

Sidestand switches are notorious for failing. They get all the road crap and rocks and such. You could try bypassing it for awhile.
