genmars

The other night I was thinking how my bike has a tendency to 'need' more steering input at higher speeds(more force)...course,we all know why that is...but,it was kinda bothering me at various times.Leaning in....hard..fast tight, and feeling like I couldn't get the 'right' angle for inputs at certain times.I experimented a bit....first with seating position.I always used to corner sitting close(very) to the tank and leaning in and to the inside somewhat. This 'worked'...but not all the time.Depending on the speed and radius.Okay...so...I began sitting back in mid saddle and cornering hard as usual...and surprisingly, the bike actually seemed to settle in much better and track much better.BUT....the angle of the 'force of the inputs' still didn't work much different.I have this set of genmars...had em on my 07....ergonomically....the new bike IS a bit different. They fit fine.I also installed my MRA 'spoiler screen' at the same time.Went for a good couple hours ride today...my favorite curves and all....

I have to say...these genmars(they're I believe 7/8ths inches tall)completely changed that angle...even if it wasn't by much. The trail and rake are the same..but the bar placement now is allowing me to add more force and also to sit at about mid-seat for the chassis feel.My ass is now sitting aft of the swingarm pivot...not like before.Having an almost 1 inch longer swingarm is definitely making a difference in the bike's high speed cornering behavior.I railed both ways...in mid saddle, and up close.NOW...even up close it feels more responsive and all..but sitting mid saddle on this bike...it truly has made a noticeable difference in cornering feel.Just thought I'd share that with you 14R owners that may be needing a 'better' feel while cornering in the bar input department.I won't be looking back...This little mod has really made a difference...I'm 6'1"...long legs...so getting mid seat is much easier now, even though it would seem just the opposite.I can tell...this frame and configuration is definitely different and responds different as to where the weight is placed on her.BTW...the genmars ALWAYS worked very well on my 07 for the same reasons...but I wasn't cornering EVER at mid seat on my 07....so....IDK.

As part of my winter project, among other goodies, I am getting the handlebar risers!
