Personal Best 1/4 List
01/18/14 11:54 AM

Ok guys as one of our resident 1320 experts it's time for me to insure that none of my fellow members are beaten by any Suzukis during an acceleration battle. Post up your best times and let's try to get everyone quicker.

List of mods and a timeslip pic or at least the full run down so we can see what is going on with the pass.

Can't get a slip till the track opens here in VA, but I have stock gearing, full muzzy, lowered and strapped, pc3 with Muzzy map, flies out, and a K&N. I will say the first pass I ever made on the 14 just trying to get the feel went 10.4@139mph, I know that's kinda slow but they wouldn't let me make another pass because I was wearing draggin jeans instead of full leather but I really wasn't there to run that nite.

Full Muzzy, flies out,K&N, black wind screen, pc3, pm wheels, blue led gauges and lights, scorpip alarm, roaring toyz kickstand and lowering links, tinted turn sigs.

Stock gearing is perfectly fine for stock wheelbase dragging. How much do you weigh Bobby? That mph looks to be low.

Im about 230 and dropping but I did bang the rev limiter once going down the track. Granted I'm not a true racer but I do try to do it right when I do. Gonna try to get in some runs this year to see if I can get a better slip. i launced the bike right at 3000 when I ran that nite.

I have been leaving around 5000 and I tend to play around with that depending on the conditions. I have left as high as 7000 before.

Im gonna try to launch a little higher and use my shift light this time, I didn't get a chance to play with tire pressure as I only got to do one run. I run pilot power dual compounds.

I run 42 psi in the front and from 25-40 psi in the rear. It just depends on what the track is doing. I actually won a bet one night against a guy who didn't think it was possible for me to hook at 40 psi at the rear tire. Typical 5-10 psi track bozos. It's sort of like the sagging jeans except at the track its a flat tire.

LOL yeah I've heard those arguments before but personally I have never ben lower than 38psi on the rear at the track and took a 97 zx9 and spanked a cbr900 and a stretched and lowered gsxr750, they kept asking what I had in the motor, lol.

Ha ha sounds like the good ole days. It seems like the kids these days are afraid to try anything that looks like it has a chance to beat them. I say "kids"... I'm 28 ha ha

While its nothing special, here is the run down of my first pass on my 2012 14R:
60' 1.59
330 4.15
1/8 6.22 @ 119mph
1/4 9.53 @ 146mph

Bike specs:
2012 14R
Stk motor
Stk exhaust
Stk wheelbase
Stk gearing
Stk tires
Stk ECU
Lowered all the way in rear
Tubes pulled 1/2" or so up front and strapped
87 pump gas
Secondary flies removed
Me weighing 215 suited. Had not been on a bike at the track in just under 2 years. The above pass was my first pass. Never improved on it, though I did improve my 60' to a 1.57(330 improved slightly too), but by the 1/8 I had lost 2mph. This was the last pass of 6 or 7. I wheelied, missed shifts, etc on most others. Air got worse and that's what I attributed to the 2mph loss in the 1/8(and lost 1.5 in the 1/4).

Went to another track a month later(1/8mi). Bike specs exactally the same.
Best pass:
60' 1.61
1/8 6.20 @ 119mph

Only got 5 passes and 4 were screw-ups. Best 60' was 1.57(again) and my 330' was .02 better than the 6.20 pass but for some stupid reason I flat missed the shift to 3rd! Was a 6.teen pass I'm sure, but no go this time.
Need to either lose a little weight to fit in my old leathers or get bigger ones! Getting kinda hard to get legs to the pegs with them as tight as they are.

For the next time at the track, I have picked up a Catalyst seat pan to get my 'heft' a little lower. Gonna try to lose 10-15lbs too which will help me get my leg to the peg. I know its gonna be harder with me sitting lower. An airshifter would be nice, but I used to be able to foot shift pretty well, so I'm hoping I can improve with more seat time. Goal is to hit a 9.3 something with the stk exhaust. I'm not far off. Gonna try dropping a tooth or two on the rear sprocket to help me get WOT in the top of 1st gear.
We shall see how it goes...

Hey that's a good starting point bro. I was looking into the catalyst seat pan as well so post up some pics if you go that route. Try to get a vid posted up so we can hear your launch.

Maverick,

Thx. Was tickled to knock down the 1.59 60' on very first pass on the bike(especially after so long not riding at all), and was happy with the 9.53. Was VERY frustrated with the newbie mistakes after that, and worse yet the mph dropping. My first thought was that it was me. On the last pass, I felt I did a decent job. 1.57 60' (smoothest 60' and 330' of the night, and slip showed that), waited on the shift light, didn't tag limiter. Was a 9.63!
Wasn't til I hit another track til I found my mph was back.
I do have a vid of that last pass(w 1.57 6::0'):: that my son took with his iPhone, but when it plays on a PC, it's upside down! I'll see if I can post it.
I already have the Catalyst pan, can get pics if u like.

Just found the slip for the 9.53 pass. 330' was 4.15. Added it to first post.
Dunno how to upload vid from iPad.

Just ran across my slips from the 2nd(and last) time at the track. Was 1/8mi. only got 4 passes this day. Two were wheelie fests.
Best full pass:
60' 1.61
330 4.14
1/8 6.20 @ 119.21

Here is the one with my best 60' and 330' but I missed 3rd gear:
60' 1.57
330 4.12
1/8 6.35 @ 99(I just let off when I missed the shift)

Here is the link to a video. Can't figure how to post it correctly. Will have to copy and paste it in your browser I guess. Was at Crandall. This was my last pass. 1.57 60', 9.63 @ 145mph. Can't seem to find the slip to see the 330' and 1/8mi info. I do recall the mph in the 1/8 was 116-117.

I dunno if anyone can see the Video I posted? I posted on YouTube and I can see it in the above post on my iPad, but just found that there is nothing there at all when viewing it from my laptop.

Hi, Shane here from the Sunshine Coast Queensland Australia.

I have just stumbled across your post and have taken my '13 14R down the 1/4 twice the first time early December and second early this month.
Not having any previous experience at the strip I watched Ricky Gadsons 8.99 run on youtube many times for a bit of a heads up.
On my first visit I installed lowering links on the rear and set on the middle hole and slid the fronts approx 25mm (1")
up in the clamps.
I also had installed an Area-P 4 into 1 exhaust on the bike off my 1400 Gtr.
Best time from 12 runs was 10.19.

Second visit best run was 9.84.
This time dropped rear to the lowest setting, and the front 2", removed cat from exhaust and ran straight out of headers through 12" extensions.
Some of my runs on the second visit I felt as though the clutch was slipping at least halfway down the strip however someone on the start reckons it was wheel spin. And on other runs front was just off the ground a good way down the track.

Maverick, was that with a pipe/tune? Pulling lots of mph! Nice transition from 60' to 330'! Stk gearing?

Alien Head 2 system with a Guhl flash/PC5 Brock's cookie cutter tune combo. I'm running a 39 tooth rear sprocket and stock front. Moves decent for a short bike.

"Moves decent for a short bike"...lol
Doubt many have run across a SWB bike(of any kind)running 5.8's. Especially at your weight. There are some out there, but they are not growing on tree's. Even fewer riders can get them there.
