paint

anyone out there know of a website that sells matching paint for this bike at a reasonable price colorrite.com has but their prices are ridiculous for paint, had to put her down yesterday because of someone pulling out of parking about 20 feet in front of me, so I got a bit of painting and buffing to do, lol

The only place I could find was the colorrite site that the dealer said to use. I tried going to a local PPG dealer and he tried to "read" the color with some sort of machine. It could not get a good read. On the plus side, the paint I got from colorrite was a perfect match.

damn lol, they are kinda pricey for a couple can's of their stuff then the clear coat, I found the complete figerglass panels kit from pit-eck for about 450 and they come just primed, o wellz, guess imma stick with colorrite, they seem like a good quality paint

They are pricey and, with my color, it says that you have to use blah blah whatever base with it. I say...complete BS!I had a body shop do my grills with the paint that I provided. They just used a primer that was close to the top coat. The paint itself had somewhat of gloss finish. I sprayed with 3 coats of Rust-oleum crystal clear. Came out great!
This pic is without clearcoat. Just wanted to show the match.

it actually looks pretty glossy without the clearcoat on it, goes good with the red having the grills painted...depending weather i get original replacements or a fiberglass plastics kit, i might just go with a generic automotive pearl black, that way i can at least find a matching color for cheaper lol

what color did you use. I'd like to do the same thing just trying to find a close enough color.

Hey, Bruiser. If you are just painting the fins, I would take the belly pan or one of the formans in to a store that has a color matching machine. They should be able to come up with a color that is very close.

Hi Bruiser, Follow this link to the color rite page that has the '06 passion red.

You could try what Rook said also. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did. I went to an autobody supply shop that sells PPG paint and their machine couldn't get a read on my paint. The guy said it has trouble reading shades of red for some reason. After 3 attempts I gave up and went to the color rite site. Not to mention that I couldn't stand to see him press the reader on my tank another time!
