So I picked black for my 2012 Concours 14 ABS.
First thing I had to buy for it, before seats, electronics, tank protectors, etc., was high quality polish, carnuba wax, and both applicators and buffing rags.
I'm letting it alone right now, its getting dusty but no matter. Once I get it all buttoned back up, I'll roll it out and give it good cleaning, then polish it to get the swirls out, and then wax it.
To be repeated weekly all summer.
At least the shaft drive doesn't polute the back end like a chain.
My first Kawasaki, the H1, was green. Kawasaki green. My H2 was blue. My Z1R was burnt orange. My GPS1100 was ... boring, and I don't remember what color it was. My ZX11 was black. My ZX14 was metallic black saphhire blue (black for all intents and purposes), until it became all carbon fiber.
I love the black bikes, but poster above is right, its a lot of work keeping it looking good.
COG members are fastidious about cleaning and waxing their bikes, there is a high bar I will have meet the first COG event I go to, or I will get ragged on. So this bike will stay cleaner than any bike I ever owned.
I've had cars before that cost me Saturday mornings every week, but I used an electric polish/buffer on them. Might use it on my Connie. One example, German acrylic laquer black is gorgeously deep, but it wasn't clear coated so to keep it deep I had to get after it once a week without fail. More if it rained. Heh.
