Well I just got out of surgery. Actually feeling good. Surprisingly little
pain. I'll check in later

Hello peeps
Frankly I'm amazed I fully expected to be lying here groaning in pain
Instead, I've already gone for a walk, ate lunch etc. I don't even have to pee since I have a
catheter in my peepee. I have virtually no pain, just a little soreness if I spread that my arms.
It feels good to be on the other side of this. Now 2 months of waiting until I can get back on the
bike.

Update. I'm still in the ICU. They're short on regular rooms. Still have the drain and catheter in. I've been having some low blood pressure issues and a bit of Afib. They're going to put me on something that stabilizes the heart
rate. ( I had this before so nothing new). The doctor said they plan to discharge us tomorrow. Ill see if that
holds. For my heart they used a cow valve, so now whenever I see a green lawn I start to drool. I'm also giving milk so let me know if you need a quart.
Otherwise I'm feeling good and my toes are actually warm for the first time.

Update on my update about my update
Still here and will probably stay to tomorrow. Blood pressure still low and still having afib. Today they want to stick a huge needle through my ribcage and drain some excess fluid. Oh Joy !! I'm stinky, sweaty and frustrated.
I have a nurse who I feel is incompetent. She doesn't seem to know what she's doing. There are a lot of traveling nurses trying to cover since so many are out with Covid and the excessive patient load. Please please wear a frigging mask. The ICU nurses were awesome. These, not so much. A couple nights ago they walked in at 10pm to run some tests. On their way out they left the door wide open and the facking lights on. Another time, I asked for more water. She says "Oh yes. Ok ". Then walks out without my water bottle. It only takes a second to act like they give a shit. It's just little things that make a difference. Anyway enough ranting. I've been watching Classic Races on MotoGP.com to keep my mind off things.

I worked in nursing homes as an aid back in 2011 through 2012 and it was the worst cluster I ever saw in my life. There was no way you could care for 15 people without breaking rules. I was there one month and I was the last one remaining of the group I got hired with. A lot were gone in the first couple weeks. I somehow lasted a year and transferred before I got fired. They kept me where I was a couple months past my last day because they couldn't spare me even though they wanted to fire me! I was the hardest working CNA you ever saw. I'd get you up in your wheelchair in 5 minutes because if we waited for a coworker to show up, it would be at least a half hour if they ever showed up at all. The catch was, if you didn't get the resident to the dining room on time or in the shower or whatever, you'd be in trouble for that too. We had people in rehab sometimes. If you have a complaint, just be aware some poor SOB is going to get blamed for it. A lot of them were just plain lazy shites but what do you expect fpr $10/hour? I hope you're in a better situation than what I saw. There were no winners there and that's what persuaded me to not pursue a career in nursing. They're there to take the blame for the nursing home's cheaping out to save several thousand a month on paychecks by not having enough staff. That was my experience anyway.

FINALLY HOME
They did the procedure to drain the fluid around the lung. Weirdly painless. Every said I must have a massive pain tolerance. Not sure. They put me on an imaging machine and stuck a tube through my back and the doctor watched the machine while he vacuumed up the fluid. Weird sensations of tingling down my arms. On Thursday they deemed me well enough to leave thank Dog. Now here's where the day just went straight down the toilet. So, they release me around 10 am. I was told that the nurse was putting the order in for my meds then. I have a pill I need to take at noon.
Its a beautiful day and I'm enjoying the sunshine. We stop at a burger place for burger and fries. Its Heaven baby !
Get to the pharmacy just before noon. They said they have no prescription order. WTF??? I say " I've got the printed copy of what I need on hospital letterhead and my name on it. How about that ?" Nope. Has to come from the nurse.
So we call the hospital and get put on hold for 25 minutes. Finally talk to someone and they assure me they'll resend the order. 30 minutes later the pharmacy finally gets it. I go in and they tell me they can't fill the entire order because some of it was " illegible ". Now they're calling the hospital and also getting put on hold. I'm now an hour and a half late for one of my medications. This happened 3 TIMES !!! All while I'm right in front of them with the PRINTED fucking order. My wife was ready to leap through the window and strangle someone. ( Ex Army)
FINALLY, at 3:30 we're done and head home. Folks, our system is broken. All the reliance on computers and just stupidity has made us into slack jawed morons. I'm going to head to the hospital next week and ask to speak to the hospital administrator. Anyway it's good to me be home and I want to thank everyone for the well wishes.

Thanks Lytnin, its the thought that counts.
Man its only Day 4 and I'm ready to tear my hair out. ( Hagrid already told me to get a haircut)
I'm retaining some fluid so doctor said to stay down with my feet up. My ass and back already hurt from laying around. Oofah ! The only things I have to look forward to are MotoGP practice 2 from the new track this weekend and the Stuporbowl. My bike is currently up on stands. I'm hoping by April 1 I can get down there and change the front tire and brake pads. We'll see.

Well, 3 weeks out and my ticker is still ticking. Biggest problem by far is some fluid in my lungs causing shortness of breath and a cough. Slowly getting better. Been spending a lot of time on Farcebook. I even started a group for new riders and mechanics called " MAD'S MOTORCYCLES ". I enjoy helping new people get into the sport.
