Greetings!
02/25/21 11:48 AM

Just wanted to check in...

Finally got my "dream bike" for my retirement present to me yesterday. Actually retired in '12.
Just took delivery of a '21 ZX-14R 0 miles on the clock.
No too crazy about the color scheme (I wanted a '20 but not to be had)so I am working with a guy to wrap it.
I am a widower (wife died in 2018) so I figured this would be a good way to stop me from moping around the house.
Located in North Central Missouri-basically 3 hours from any civilization: KC, Des Moines, Columbia.
I have been riding for around 30 years...looking forward to "touring" around on this monster.

Tom.

Welcome Tom,
You definitely picked the right bike. Fully capable of taking care of any riding desire. Mods for performance or ergonomics will make this bike work for you. Enjoy your new retirement distraction. It won't replace the loss of your love but it will definitely improve your mental state.

TomTom. Color's easy to change. A set of new fairings is usually the best way to go. To me, it seems vinyl wrapping is a lot more labor than painting and the vinyl isn't cheap either. I did 4" wide stripes on mine and the nose was quite a challenge. I can't imagine stretching a whole sheet around the point on the nose...but I guess that's what the pros are for.

Indeed, Rook! And that is why they are the "professionals".

He did a test wrap on the nose-it took all of 5 minutes-Little infrared heating and a stretch and pull and done. Truly amazing to watch them work. The air intake gave them a moment, but they figured out to start inside the ram air duct and work outwards-one seamless piece to the edge.
