PLASTI-DIP
12/11/12 1:39 PM

so i first heard about this plasti dip yesterday while youtubbing zx14 during work. after work i went to home depot and bought the stuff. 6 bucks for the spray ca and i think 7 or 8 bucks for the tube. went home and tested it out on the front wheel fairing. first layer came out amazing. i tried doing research on and found out that people on craigs are doing it as a business. im at work at the moment and as soon as i get im gonna finish the bike. i will post up pics of the bike before and after and make a video of as well. this is my bike now. has anyone o here done a plasti dip on their bike????????

I have not used it myself but have a friend how's tried it on his car wheels and they came out pretty good, plus the best part is the fact that you can just peel the stuff right off.
Lets see some pics when you're done.

I have use Plasti-Dip on tool handles for decades.

It works pretty good, but if you don't rough up the surface you are applying it to, after a few times washing it and riding fast, it will peel off and end up in your radiator.

Just an FYI from an old machinist who used that stuff before many of you were born. LOL.

Those rims look familiar, good ole chrome clads! did the same thing to mine... I've been debating plasti-diping the badges on my bike, nice being able to do temporary trials to see if you like a certain look.

How exactly are you spraying it with the can? How many coats? How thick? How long between coats? It shouldn't look anything like that. Mine looks like one solid piece of vinyl.

Also, what do you mean "the pump"?

How exactly are you spraying it with the can? JUST STRAIGHT FROM THE SPRAY CAN ON TO THE FAIRING. How many coats? THIS IS JUST A 2 COAT(I KNOW I NEED LIKE 5) How thick? NOT THICK ENOUGH How long between coats? 30 MINS It shouldn't look anything like that. Mine looks like one solid piece of vinyl.

Also, what do you mean "the pump"? YOUTUBE DIP YOUR CAR. THE GUY USES A PUMP.

So you have the Spray Gun but it isn't working? Try to get that working first.

If your just doing the can spray it thick (it should look wet), wait 30 seconds and spray it the same. 2-3 coats is all you need.
