Mojave Magnum 2016
10/31/15 10:35 PM

I started this thread on the other forum, but I know there are a few LA/CA 14 drivers on this site and also several veteran +200 mph riders from events in the east and Texas.

I'm thinking this might be to much fun to pass up, a 12500 ft runway and 1.5 mile of redline zx14R? I have all the saftey gear from the road track days and according to the website info I only need a few more things for the bike.

2016 Events - Mojave Magnum, April 9-10

http://www.mojavemile.com/

There is no separate forum for the LSR guys so I thought I would start a thread here and see who else is interested so we can collaborate and meetup and have a kawi 14 corral.

From reading the bike prep guide/rules, for a 14 or 14R the following is need to run;

1. A tether kill switch, Schnitze sells a plugin play for $80 - http://store.schnitzracing.com/schni...15-zx10-04-15/. interfaces with the kickstand kill switch

2. Lock wire the front axle pinch bolts and the rear axle nut and the oil drain bolt, I found a source for the front cap screws and the oil drain plug (oil plug bolt is 5mm to long so a few washers are needed) - http://www.drilledheadbolts.com/

3. Metal valve stem caps with o-rings.

That's about all I can find in the bike prep, the kickstand has to be fastened up but a zip tie or lock wire can meet that requirement.

That, basic track day gear and $350 and it's on! Hopefully we can get a few people interested and meetup and support each other and go faster than hell all day long... at least that's the plan

Wish I lived out there to be able to do it. Out here we had to have a metal chain guard and battery with metal on all sides.

Go luck and go have a great time.

UPSguy, do you know the tire pressure and suspension setup for the high speed 1 and 1.5 mile runs??

Definitely sounds fun... of course!

I am curious. Why #3 though?!

Centrifugal force pulls down on the plungers in Schrader valves. The metal caps will prevent pressure loss.

I am no expert by any means, shane and capt10ed have been much more successful. I've run 18 passes in 2 events using the stock tires at 42psi. As for suspension settings I am also running the stock settings which seem fine at my weight of 167lbs. I am lowered about 1.5" front and rear. If I can help you in anyway let me know.

Thanks UPSguy found the LSR section in the zx1441 forum.

What rear sprocket did you end up running? Can I go with a -2 and still keep the stock chain?

Thanks for your great advise!

I'm running a 38 right now with the stock chain. per a suggestion from the other board (Lee) I have a bunch of extra nuts threaded on the adjuster bolts so it cant bend. He says under hard launches it can happen. I realize LS runs don't usually launch as hard as at the dragstrip; but I'm going to be trying that first. Then maybe down the road some mile + runs.

There is still plenty of remaining thread, but it was suggested that near the max length the bolt might bend some. I would have used a harder grade bolt and the extra nuts, but the hw store was out of what I needed.

As Rod says you can go -2 with no problem. I was running -2 but changed to -1 on the last day due to high winds. Shane told me 39t for the 1.5 mile if I ever do one of those.
