After I take early retirement next August, I'm going out to the west coast (from Maryland) to see my long time best friend and hunting buddy. Haven't seen him in 20 years, and we ain't getting any younger. Bucket list stuff.
Before I get to Monterey CA, I'm stopping in Portland OR because one of the Suicide Girls has promised me at least a lap dance. Bucket list stuff.
Will be nice to see old Jones again, we have a lot of catching up to do. Maybe even a wild party (such as we are able to endure) or two.
While there, I am going to work my way one day up to Cupertino CA near San Jose, and take 9 west to Skyline Blvd, and ride north to Alice's Restaurant at Woodside on Skyline. Back in the day I used to take my sportbikes up there and participate in the stoppie competition on the flat stretch running past Alice's.
The Harley Davidsons parked in Alice's lot and it was long enough ago the would physically throw a foreign bike out into the street if it dared come on the parking lot. So we parked across the street in the strip mall lot, often as many as 200 or so sportbikes. Good times!
Not trying any stoppies with my big girl, the Concours 14 is sweet but she ain't no sportbike. I just want to see how it has changed. I'm sure the Sheriff has a much greater presence than we had to endure back then.
So, if anyone lives in the area from San Francisco south to Monterey, maybe we could meet up and have a beer or something. I'll post my route when it gets close, but it looks like the scenic route is about 9 days to get there, but I'll probably spend a couple days in Portland depending on what develops, so to speak.
If it is late enough in the year I will just winter in Monterey or go see friends in Texas, then come back in the spring.
I'll be pulling this behind the Connie and camping at KOAs (mostly) to save money....
