I splurged and got the high dollar Optimate 4 battery tender. I figured what the hell, but it probably won't do any better than the $40 one they had.

But this one I got does have the desulfation feature, as well as multiple input levels, which the cheaper ones didnn't. Who knows if it'll be worth the extra $$$ or not, but......

Here's the plan.

Clean entire bike
Fill tank
Put stabilizer in tank
Run to get stabilizer in all through the system (extra precaution that may not be necessary, but......)
Put bikes in extra room built into the garage
Reduce tire pressure (May or maynot be necessary, but, it can't hurt)
Remove battery and put in house on tender
Get wheels off the ground with both end stands.

With the battery out, this obviously won't apply to me, but..........The dealership's main mechanic told me its not good to merely start it and let it run for a few minutes at a time. Fouls the plugs because the ECU is shooting a lean mixture at first............???? Sounds reasonably to me, and I also don't wannt to start it over the winter anyway, when the oil may be cold and thick in the crankcase. Not sure on synthetic, but I know regular oil gets thick as hell in real cold weather.

Got the battery tender lead attached and I think I may put my bike to bed this weekend. Its getting to be in the 20s at nite now and the daytime temps are becoming unridable afterwork, and the chance of a decently warm weekend day is getting more and more unlikely. I have cleaned and lubed the chain and cleaned the entire bike......

Think I am gonna put some stabilizer in the tank (filled it) and put it in my extra room off my garage and put the bear in hybernation for a few months.
