Healtech GIPro/ATRE
04/18/18 7:42 PM

I was thinking this gear position indicator would not be a proper post in Performance Upgrades. The ATRE part of the description (advanced timing retard eliminator) however kept me feeling good about posting it here. This will be installed come the weekend as will my last spark plug and fairings go back on!!!! Been a long process this winter. So geeked to do tuning runs, both for my maps and for dialing in the suspension.
Any forum member here have experience with this Healtech product? I was disappointed to hear from Todd @ Blue Monkey that Healtech DOES NOT make a speedo healer for Gen2 Zx14....grrrrr.

No but I've been researching a bit and possibly getting one in the future. You got the right one. I presume it can be set to lock to any stock gear map 1-6 or N and shut off if you want (7 ATRE + Bypass). This alone makes it better than going with a normal TRE like Ivan's which only locks to one map and locks the gear indicator too + they can't usually be switched off unless you rig that up yourself.

It's a nicer gear indicator than stock. You can try each gear map to see how the ignition cut effects power in all gears. Your fueling will be locked to one gear map which is better in most cases. There's no adjustment/gear made to fueling by the ECU so your tune is consistent in all gears. I am sure you are going to lock into N, 5 or 6, N should reduce backtorque and remove all timing restriction. 5 or 6 will just derestrict timing.

I would stick it right over the stock gear indicator. Please show pics and give a review.

Damn, Mike--you're doing it the old school way with that Gen2 but I like that! You can get a flash to take out the timing restriction but then how do you know the flasher knows the proper adjustments to derestrict timing in all gears----and do they lock to one gear map??????? Questions most don't even want to ask. I prefer to do it the old way and learn WTH I'm doing to the bike. If I keep to this and get a new bike, I'll get a full flash kit with software but for my Gen1, I'm going old school.

The busa has ECU Editor and that cost me 250 dollars! Not for the 14 though. I still have not played with ECUE but that will be my first step into flashing.

I would look into the Bonneville Pro. Muzzy quit making them but I have one I bought used never installed. Will sell possibly (don't know if I want to part with it). You'd have to figure out if it works on the Gen 2. Requires a stock wire to the ECU be tapped. No top speed recall function Schnitz told me it cannot be used to derestrict the TSL without restricting the stock speedo indication. Same deal with the SpeedoHealer but it does have TSR and I heard if you set the SHv4 to KPH, you can do 200 on a stock speedo set calibrated for mph and still get an accurate speedo reading. Never tried it. Never did over 180 yet. Don't know if I ever will without an LSR course.

Schnitz also said the TRE ONLY effects flies mapping and 6th gear has no more timing than any other gear but I think he or whoever responded to that email is full of shit. I think I know why they said that though. The timing map is the same for every gear. I'm sure the ECU adjusts the timing map for every gear though. This is how Kaw kept it's true timing mapping/gear a secret and that is one secret I have got to crack. Ivan said he knows it. Sone others may too. Still others just go with a generic timing curve. The TRE will derestrict ----zero timing adjustment. Can the bike benefit from more timing that that without blowing up?????? IDK. I'm sure not with boost but perhaps stock.

I would be very careful derestricting your timing with that oxygenated gas you planned to use.

Where? Accessories? That's for touring mods like heated grips and radar detectors. Performance Upgrades is your section!

The dash shot is crappy, was in mid install when snapped. I did get the monster out today and stopped at my favorite race gas gettin spot for some tacos. First outing fully faired in months. Running so strong. Wow.

Very nice, Mike. I must have one!

Damn that bike looks sharp! LOL I didn't know you got the TechStyle seat! Looks great.

I can see flat black fins some day. Smoked headlights and black billet side stand too.

ROOK!!!
Thanks Brohemian Rhapsody! Yes I went through a lengthy ordeal w Revzilla and Saddleman- the Saddleman website showed a race style solo complete w a woman on a vid showing and talking about it for a gen2 ZX14R. Well no such seat exists as it turns out hence the Tech style. Which I love btw. Man I am feeling all those blk highlights you listed. Funny you'd mention the side stand as my ergonomics dial in process has my shifter down enough to make me want to cut the nub off the stocker. Flat black fins would be very cool.

Well, I didn't see the solo race seat for the 14 but I did see that for the busa which has a separate pillion seat. It looks cool. I'm going to chop down one of my stock seats and see if I can't all but eliminate the passenger part of the saddle. It is necessary to have something stiff enough under there because the seat lock is right below. The rear seat lock, I think you could do without. I also want to cut away as much foam as possible to get the rider's seat as low in back as I can. Those drag tails with no seat look so cool. I love the look of that skinny waist.

my ergonomics dial in process has my shifter down enough to make me want to cut the nub off the stocker.

GP shift might help.
