coil stick blast ZZR1400 2007

so it all started with a fuel problem and faulty fuel pump , and jammed air filter. i must say i use this bike for work (sort of company car with 2 wheels) so i do 3k to 6k KM per month regularly. so its like every 2 months a sort of service, and the bike is inspected constantly. after a new fuel pump and air filter due to a real filthy trip i had, and all was suppose to be prefect....but not so easy... between 2k to 2.5k from cold start all was well. however after engine wormed up to mid temp. and on the bike gagged on the mentioned RPM. since all fuel system was cleaned, the suspect where the spark plugs... but surprise not even that... the spark plugs looked and where in deed new.
so i was trying to zoom on the problem ..cold no problem...hot problem... i checked all sensors reaction and all are within the book. i took of the coil sticks and tested them... and yes i tested them on cold engine. we (me and the service man) looked at every thing but all looked normal. well sort of....out of desperation i decided to go back and with clean head (my head) to eliminate by replacement part by part. randomly i decided to start with the coil stick first since all the rest i tested twice and more. so i took one coil stick from a crashed ZZR14 same year on the garage and replaced #1. nope...#4...nope...#2....nope...#3 & WTF....i have 4 cylinders again.... so i tested the engine on cold warm and hot and no cut at all..on any RPM. so i took the #3 coil stick out to the strong light and what do i find.. some scratch that looked like nothing... but it was a crack..actually blasted a small U shape crack and when warming up, this crack expanded and sparks started to jump from there instead of the spark plug.. and this is why cold-OK /hot-NOT OK!, up: .....
when nothing else works ... read the manual... its written all over the troubleshooting chapter. if needed service manual of this model i can upload it any time. just mess.
and mister crack on close :

Glad you tracked that down. First time I ever heard of that problem.

Good trouble shooting and way to get to the bottom of it Xmanmaster. Pulling a plug to determine if it is clean or fouling, or trying another stick coil, is not a fast procedure on a ZX-14.
