140 miles of bliss
02/19/12 6:10 PM

Went on my first good, twisty ride today. The 14R had me grinning like the Joker. I hit a lot of 20/30/40 mph corners with serious elevation changes and was blown away at how well the 14R handles. The lighter wheels and stiffer chasis allows it to flick soooooooo much easier than my 07 model. I was hitting 40 mph corners at 95 mph when I normally hit them at 85. And I was in 5th gear because I didn't want to rev too high (kept it at 5K rpms). Also, I wasn't pushing it because the roads were cold. The bike is very confidence inspiring. The TC allows you to really power exit corners without fearing a high side. It's just sick! An effortless ride right out of the crate. Best money I ever spent. Kaw put both feet into this whip.

The Metzler M5s have an excellent neutral profile and stick very well. It was 38 degress and I didn't have one slip. I totally thrashed the "elephants" on the rear tire. And did it in total comfort. The seat is a huge upgrade. Kudos to Kaw. I had to buy an airhawk to save my back, azz, and legs when riding the 07. Don't think I'll need it much on the 14R.

The other owners have talked about the beast engine, crazy smooth torque, effortless gearing, etc. They didn't lie.

I'm removing the fender and replacing the cans and I'm DONE. The bike is that tight!

Coming off a 6, it will feel heavy initially. But don't let that bother you. It's good weight and when you point it in a corner, it sticks like glue. No squirming around like smaller bikes. If you can master the 14, you can master any sportbike. It made me a better rider on the roadcourse when riding my 6 because smooth throttle control is key when piloting the 14 and that translates to the track also.

As with any bike, take plenty of time to get acclimated to the 14R. This thing we do is inherently dangerous and impatience will get you hurt or worse. The 14R is a big jump from a 6 but you'll be fine if you respect it and work on your game. I love to hear guys say "My bike can't do....". For some reason, kats hate to admit that it's the pilot and not the bike. LMAO!

Impressive....sounds like lots of fun and can't wait to get one. Just got one nagging bill to pay off in three months then its on

I have some aftermarket parts laying around that I was planning to be ready to put on a busa but here comes the 14R. Looks like they are going on eBay

CurveKilla.... I did own a 99 busa 98 r1 and gsxr 1000 so i know a little about bigger bike... yes to jump from a 600 to the 14r would be little crazy if that was not the case.

One that is so strong in the powerband.

Gawd! As if I wasn't excited enough about getting one. So she's a handler too? Wow unreal...does all that power ever become too much in tighter corners, say 35-45mph? I'll be coming from a blackbird just so you know.
