BMC/K&N absent?
07/18/12 9:21 AM

Got almost 10K on the 2012 and I am still waiting for BMC/K&N to come out with an air filter to fit. What is up? Even though I have always used K&N on all of my vehicles, I am thinking of going BMC this time or just sticking with OEM. The K&N on my 08 was a flimsy piece of crap that was a tedious fit with coating rails with grease and all. Next to the OEM filter the 08 K&N example was wanting. I would open the 08 back up to make sure that the damn thing was still in place. Let's hear some pro/con on using an after market lifetime filter or staying with OEM and let's hear if anyone has any info when the new filter will be available.

The power gains with a race filter is minimal. 2 hp or less. Not even a lot of dif in mapping for that. Worth it if you are competing but not for street. I don't usually use mine. BMC was the choice I made. K&N is a little bit lighter. Think it was less than an ounce difference.

I'd stick to OEM. Some pull the steel perforated plate out to increase flow a bit. Throw your race filter in when you need every last drop of power.

I wouldn't use the race filter on the road. I am saying that no after market filters are available for the 14R.
