Some pretty brave guys there that saved the situation.
If I was being paid what those gas attendants were being paid, there wouldn't be a lot of wiggle room to be a hero!
I reckon i would have just run.

We have 2 laws in Australia when fueling you bike.
Don't sit on it while fueling. I have always abided by this one.
Don't walk in to pay for your fuel while still wearing your helmet. I no longer abide by this one since it doesn't also apply to anyone wearing full burka head dress.

The girl at my bank actually does wear a burka. Not over her face but her head. Odd thing is her speech is totally inner city. I don't know what to make of it. ..but I take my helmet off anyway.

Fair enough to Rook.

But my religion dictates I believe in the magnificence and greatness of the motorcycle and it's my right to express my beliefs by wearing the relevant cultural head dress (which some people have been know to call a helmet) without being judged or persecuted by others.
I demand people respect my beliefs even if they impact on others or contradict laws that have been in place for decades.

Sound familiar?
But then that's the way the system works doesn't it?

I fill while mounted all the time. I just rely on the "click" when full. I think if you mount and fill you should be very careful. Just because this occured in India, does not mean it can't happen here(North America land of OZ etc). I believe the pump had a defect and did not shut off when full. Whooof.

Imagine explaining that one to the insurance company, or your spouse when you show up in a cab holding a charred helmet.

Not good!

I wonder if that guy ever did manage to get his pants off over his shoes? I see him hopping around after the flames were put out. Add this to the list of reasons to NEVER go commando when riding a bike.

I'm with Yanman on this...ALWAYS wear your lid proudly;)

Gotta remember here...the rider was letting an unknown(probably) fill the tank. Now how dumb is that? How many o' youse guys would allow THAT?You can see he's standing just away from the tank, with the hose in his hand...probably said.."top it off?"and pulled the triggerLOL!

I never rely on the pump shutoff when I fuel. I pull the collar back and watch the filling and just stop when I'm done. Never had a problem.

I'd feel soooo DIRTY.

Not quite as dirty but even funnier.

Honest I have never filled up while sitting on my bike. Mainly I am being extra careful not drip or spill on my tank. Also I use the oppurtunity to stretch the legs a bit and look the bike over a bit, tires brakes etc... Now it looks like I will be getting off the bike so I don't burst into flames while pumping.

And I always take my gloves off. I don't want fuel on me anywhere.
Diesel fuel while at work, yeah that happens. Gasoline while out riding, no thanks.

If I burn,

I'd prefer to ignite some passion - while doling out a serious, beat down, lashing...
I'd be wide open in 6th gear! Burning down the street, wick lit. Hair on fire, melting tire.

Disappearing in a blaze.
Purple haze
Like flaming pipes, flame accent stripes. Mouth a gape screaming in the helmet "bloody fire!" Molten Lava, "great balls of fire!

I mean
the non-hemeroid, or herp variety.

Crimson red ambers, is all I'd leave, between the highway nether world, of this urban neoNeandrathal scene.
Let them ambers that scorched my thighs
And singed my eyes

Dilute themselves and disapate the heat
Refuel while mounted - I dare not
REPEAT

So to experience pain
Fuel thy stead while perched in Magisterial arrogance
Be of the "it could not be" happenstance
The end to your sexual dance

The next time u don't here the click
It could cost you, your fun stick

Beware Urban dweller beware

Wolf, I spotted the problem instantly. It's a woman. They can barely drive an automobile properly. HA HA.

Yeah, I love that one. I also like my RF1100. But the 1000 is quieter.
