08 ZX14 filies in or out?
09/07/12 1:02 PM

I know that the filies out on the 06 - 07 models make a big different, so I was wondering was it worth the time to take them out my 08 ZX14. I don't drag race but I do play around on the hwy with some of my partners that have Busa. So I talk alot of junk about how 14 is so much better. Im thinking about taking them out if it give me a edge on them but not if it's a waste of time and money or if I can get the same change with a TRE! Thanks for the help!

Won't make a difference in the high RPMs, but normal riding I found it did make a difference in my 09. It's zero cost (assuming you have a good screw driver) and about an hour of work if you take your time, so no reason not to.

Read the how to on the forums and it's cake.

Will make almost no difference. In or out, very similar on an 08-11. NOt worth it unless you just feel like tinkering. I have mine out and I feel with the proper map, the throttle is smoother at low rpm. Notice no gain down low....maybe the engine spins up tpo the higher revs a tiny bit stronger because of the initial increased flow. I guess I am telling you , "Don't expect too much." The 08-11 flies open at 3.5K rpm and no bikes really make a great deal of power below that. If you need that initial bight, you just have to launch like a drag racer slipping the clutch. That is where the real bottom end grunt comes from.

I pull mine on all my bikes, I don't want "any" restriction of power.
