First group ride
08/21/22 9:18 PM

Well it seems I started a Farcebook group aimed at new riders and mechanics. MAD's MOTORCYCLES. Currently we're approaching 250 members and people seem to enjoy it.
Yesterday I held our first group ride for members in the San Francisco Bay Area. I trailered my bike 4 hours down I5 to Pacifica where the truck and trailer would stay

Unloaded the bike and rode to my sons apartment near Golden Gate Park. I brought every lock I had an a cover since his bike had been stolen and recovered 2 months ago.
Saturday we got up early and got to the starting point of the ride. I enjoyed an early coffee while we waited for everyone to show up. Eventually the group was formed. 23 people including 10 women which was awesome. I split the group into a Faster Group and a Less Faster group and designated the Leader and Sweepers. I was leading the Less Faster group. We ended up doing 90 miles on just about every kind of road imaginable. Everyone today is raving about it and want to go again. Probably going to set up another in the fall

Enjoy the pictures.

Kewl! We have a local group run by a guy who's safety oriented, starts each ride off covering all the group's rules, hand signals, riding staggered with the leader at front-left, etc.

Nice work Mad.
People like you make the difference to others.
Glad everyone enjoyed it.
P.S.
You must be a chick magnet!

We have a local group run by a guy who's safety oriented, starts each ride off covering all the group's rules, hand signals, riding staggered with the leader at front-left, etc.

Extra, its great that there are some that organise rides and are 100% committed to safety.
But I'll pass on the sort of ride where the regulation and order goes past the point of enjoyment.
Safety and freedom?
Balance is the key word.

One last thing Mad.
Damn we have to get you in for a haircut!!!

Yep, I went on 4-5 of their rides, prob >5 years ago now, mainly to see if they knew of some interesting routes in my area I didn't already know about (they didn't ). But it turns out I didn't mind learning their safety info, also. Anyway, since that brief period I now just ride with my long time buds, anywhere from 2-4 of us ... although on our upcoming NC-TN ride 3 more latched on. So there will be 6 of us. That's really too many for me, so I foresee us breaking up into smaller groups: Hey, you wanna go that way, we wanna go this way, so both groups do that and meet at ___ for lunch.
