Did you take the plunge on the ZX-10 while I was away Rook? Unfortunately I didn't take my laptop with me or I would have gotten on line and got your numbers. I will be going again next year, Good Lord willing, so we'll set something up.

^^Still no new bike. I guess my lawyer is not offering any buyer incentives this time of year- LOL. 08 ZX-10s are still cheap, AFAIK and I hear there are a lot of them. Apparently the buyers are steering clear of the hp king because they know they are going to have to do at least 80 mph before they really start to feel it. I don't suppose the bike is exactly a dog on the street but I can see how that bike would be best suited to the track. I compared it to a black 09 GSXR last week at the stealer and I was surprised to find the ZX-10 was better looking. All the liters are gnarly lookin' beasts, I guess. ZX-10 is best looking, best hp, and seems to make use of it entire rpm range. The Gix revs 750 rpm higher but the top 1.75K rpm are all flatline and downhill on the hp.

I was surprised at how light the 09 GSXR felt. Have to try it again to be sure. The 08 Gix was supposed to be heavy.

Ahhh grasshopper you are beginning to find the path to enlightenment i.e. what makes a great track bike does not necessarily make a great street bike. The ZX-10 is very track focused, stiff suspension and top end oriented power not the best combination for the street. I had the perfect street bike in my stock CBR 1000 but had to have more power and in the process I screwed up the balance of the machine. The full system exhaust has definitely added more power but it's up in the same place the ZX-10s power resides and that's at high rpm. I just can't use it in most situations, turning 11 to 12,000 rpm on the street all the time is just not that pleasant. My 14 seems very relaxed by comparison. I would trade this pipe in a minute for something with a very strong midrange hit like the '08/'09 CBR 1000 has.

But they are cheap. That counts for something. I could spend a few dollars of the money I save on a track membership at Road America.

Actually, I'm still looking hardest at the 08 busa. I know where I could get a black & orange but they don't think they have to let it go for 1 year old prices because-------it's black and orange. They have gas in the tank which I don't particularly care for especially if the bike has been sittin' there for a year. God knows how many times they started it up. A blue or grey going for $9,500 + tax & lic. I might grab one after I see what kind of money my attorney didn't use up. Another $1,200 bill came.

I had a new tire put on last week, and the first time I rode the bike, it went flat. Now the shop that mounted them says that they cant patch those tires, and it is up to the manufacturer to decide if it is under warranty. So I guess I'm just screwed. Can you patch a high speed tire? I am not sure if I can trust that tire at high speeds now. What do you guys think?

Evil, the topic has been raised in the past and most didn't recomend repairing a tire on a motorcycle. There were a few adamant "No way - nevers." A couple people said they had used plugs to repair tires. There were no reports of the plug failing in a repaired tire.

I guess i shouldn't talk because i wore my tire way past it's life. Even so, I'd be uncomfortable doing over 60 mph on a repaired tire. I can understand how you would hate to throw it out before you even used it. If you do a lot of fast cornering, I wouldn't trust it. A blow out at high speed in a straight line is might not make you go down but if you blow a tire on a corner, it would be a miricle if you managed to avoid a crash.

Plugs aren't that bad. Especially the types used on cars. Guaranteed to pop out at exactly 130mph every time according to my tests. Rapid deflation is fun, but its not exactly a blowout. You'll notice the ride getting soft and a squishy sensation when swerving. That's the bead about to slide off the rims.

If the tire is worn to the cord, you'll still have another layer of them to go through. Then there's the bubble, the wobble, the headshakes. It can be a real tankslapper.

Yep, I've put just about every experimental thing you can imagine to the limit on my bikes.

Thanks guys, that was what I was thinking too. 200 dollars down the freakin drain I guess. I run this bike up to 140-150 all the time since I am in the Land Of No Twisties. I am not totally sure that it wasn't a defective tire. The hole was tiny. I had to put a wood screw in it to get home, so now if I did try to get a warranty replacement, they would just say it got a puncture from an object in the road. I thought about plugging it, but I cant stay out of the throttle, and I am not willing to crash over a 2 hundred dollar tire.

Fock it, I'll get a new tire!

Smart decision. Sux to do the right thing some times.

We've all been there Evil, I poked a hole in my back tire a while back on the 14 not too long after changing it.Never crossed my mind to plug it, your butts worth a lot more than $200. You made the right decision.

I'd plugit inn, plug it in. Keeps me from the 150+ bursts. Just the other day, I was over 1/4 mile away from traffic. Taking that speed and someone moved over into the fast lane; seeing how I was coming up on them. Some funny shit is I never passed the guy. He made that choice to move over. Was that my fault or was there no one in front of him to pass is I had even more of a stretch when he moved over.

Like I said, safest bike is the 14. I make sure cars see me is ear I come is look inn year mirror is MOVE! Move that patch on my tire is run with them at their speed? Hard choice with all that safety concern in the way.
