Someone had asked about a tank bra a while ago. The tank on the 14R is the same as the one on the Concours. I ordered a Targa, 1/2 tank bra for an '08 Concours and it fits the 14R with no trouble. As for getting the stock tank pad off, that was a project. Heated it and the pad came off and left all the sticky tape on. Finally heated the tape and used a soft plastic scraper. Then Goo Gone, windex and finally compound and wax. Looks perfect, no scratches, but alot of elbow grease.

I've always used a vinyl tank bra on both bikes. Best all around protection for the tank and if the bike is black, the swirls will show in short order. Tank bras are also the lightest tank protector you're going to find. They give all over protection but they weigh same or less than magnetic protectors. Never in 5 years had problems with dirt or stuff getting trapped under the bra. no scratches from debris blow under and I Do not take it off too often. Wsah around/over it and pul back to dry.

I really like the OEM tank grip on the 14r. I would def put that on my 08. A vinyl tank bra offers better grip than the paint for sure.

Just got TechSpec tank grips for side and got a shield shaped center add on. TechSpec is great for hanging off if that's you style + I think it looks awesome. ...and if you want, you can just put a tank bra over it for touring which is what I plan to do.

I happen to have a brand new, unopened bags, set for the Z14. I need to check and see if it is ZX14 or ZX14R. Anyway, they sent to me out of the clear blue a month ago, by accident. I told them to send me a shipper and I'd send it back, but they never did. Maybe I should sell it?

I've got it on my Connie now, and pretty soon will be cutting strips from what they call General Sheets, of the "smooth" type (the thinnest) to put on top of my side cases to protect them from boot scuffing.

My favorite type Tech Spec is snakeskin. It is very thick, looks great, and I never worry about what belt I'm wearing, the belt can't hurt the snakeskin.
