Does anyone have a quality dynojet map for 08-09 zx14 they would be willing to share with me, I have tried the ones on the dynojet website and I am not very impressed. Send me a pm or email at lovegsxr1000@yahoo.com

Can whomever sold you the PC5 not provide a tuned map?

Fuel Moto does, Brock does, Muzzy does. As a service to their customers.

another words spend more money

"another words spend more money"....

well, yeah, consider what it costs Fuel Moto or Brocks or Muzzy to maintain one or more dyno rooms (dyno, computers, air compressors, exhaust fans, air conditioning, etc.) plus the payroll and overhead to run, service, and house the dyno facility(s).

These guys are in business, and they need to make money to stay in business. We would be much poorer in our choices and options if companies like I've mentioned above went broke and out of business.

When you get someone to send you a map done by Fuel Moto et. al. for a specific bike/exhaust/state-of-tune you are taking revenue away from that company. I know some of you don't have the business experience to understand that, but it is true. I sincerely doubt the government is going to bail Brocks out if they go broke.

When I finally am ready to buy a PC5, which depends on when I'm ready to buy an exhaust system and a few other things, part of how I decide who to buy from is which company provides the best custom map for my application. Knowing that I will buy auto-tune and it will take up the slack.

There has been enough posted here to understand which companies provide the best services, and how to decide what you need.

Privateer is right. Those maps come with a condition, written or not, that they are for your use only. I'd hate to think we had a ZX14 owner with lack of ethics.
If someone paid for a custom map at a Dyno center then that is a different story. They can share it with whoever they want. I'm sure that's what Monster14 is looking for!
Having purchased a PCIII and now a PCV second hand I can feel the frustration of a lack of sources from whom to purchase a map. I'm going to install AutoTune but I still need a good base map to start with.
DJ's maps are not very good and there aren't many of them. I don't think they spend much money at all maintaining a Dyno center and creating maps for many different configurations. They do the minimum to sell their product and they don't do it very well!
There's a thread in"General" about a guy who does custom maps, F.A.I.C.S. Nothing negative so far so it sounds like a good thing. I'm going to try it if I don't get something good from Muzzy.

Good luck y'all, hope you get some Happy Tunes.

I don't think tuners are quite as much up on copyright laws that would protect their creations as much as artists, musicians and writers. When creative people sell their work, they sell specific rights and this might not include the right to resell or reuse the work for any other purpose other than that which was originally intended. The artist often retains this right and resells copies of the work.

Interesting point Rook. I'd like to know what a tuning center would think. I never considered a mechanic as an artist.
When I hired someone to build my swimming pool, although it was done very creatively, I never asked if other people could use it.

You could be in hot water if the swimming rights transferred were for your exclusive use only.

Thanks Scott I will look into it, $50 sounds good, 250-300 for autotune or dyno is just not in the budget right now.

If you study the intellectual property laws, you will see a different perspective on this. It may even been tuners like Fuel Moto and Brocks and Muzzy are not adequately claiming their copyright under the existing laws for one reason or another. Maybe they don't know, maybe they don't want to bother.

The real issue is, the more money we take away from the tuners the more likely they are to go broke.

If any of you have a dyno bay ready to go, give it a try and see how it affects you when you sell 100 maps as part of the price of a PC / exhaust (for example) deal and then nobody buys from you for a couple months because the maps have been put into the public domain and folks find the hardware cheaper from sellers who provide no tuning expertise.

Its not so much a legal issue, or even an ethical issue (though it is).... its whether we want to support the tuners who are doing good work for the ZX14. They don't have to, the ZX14 is not that big a deal in terms of market share.

Your choice.

good point privateer and one thing to keep in mind guys when your asking someone to share thier maps (besides the fact that they paid for it and you want it free) power commanders are in fact mini computers ive heard horror stories of guys passing around maps (prob dyno tuners lol) with viruses that pretty much wipes out your pc so just be careful cheaper just to buy a map from a reputable tuner imo than buying a new pc then a map.

Good facts, privateer. If we are motorcycling enthusiasts, why do we want to be counterproductive to our sport?

Well thanks to Scott I found somewhere to buy a quality map, so no one has to get their panties in a wad about sharing a map.
