Automatic Garage Door Opener
12/19/09 9:44 PM

I took the Garage Door opener off my Harley. I need help attaching it to the Ninja. Switchingthe Headlights back and forth initiates the door opening. The transmitter has a Black Ground, White High Beam, Yellow Low Beam, and a Orange/White Wire that is a Power wire I would like to only be hot when the key is on. Where can I connect to the harness in the front Fairing of the Ninja?

I recently had the horn recommended as a good hot wire. I was not able to use that location because my accessory was under the seat.

Bgordon, can you please move this thread to the Ask Hub folder? He probably knows the wiring well enough to help.

Ok, I just had a failed attempt of connecting the garage door opener from Harley. I realized halfway through the install that for the Harley transmitter to work, the low beam has to turn off when the high beam comes on. As you guys know, the Big Ninja's low beam never turns off.

As for the wiring, I followed Hubs reference and it was right on. Instead of using the BR/BK, I just used the running light hot wire that was in the same bundle as the headlight wires. I verified the power outputs with a volt meter and all looked good. As expected, the transmitter didn't work. I guess I will install it in the wife's car. Thaks for your help.

I figured I would just get a switch and just simulate the head light action. Thanks Hub.

slidderhd, I had my local shop do it while they were giving the bike a once over. And of course, they ran into the same issue you had...the low beam never goes off.

They installed it and it works....would you like me to get some details from them? They will be open on Tuesday.

From the shop...
