It depends wether it's 1 lbs. of sprung or unsprung mass.

There are 4 levels of weight reductions- anything that rotates is the most crucial and it's
in level 1.

Long story short- 15 lbs. of weight savings on the rear wheel assembly will get you significantly
greater results than 15 lbs. of stripped oem bits and pieces from the frame or fairings (or lighter aftermarket replacements for those).

i hear that all the time ..but them carbon fiber wheels don't make any of the bikes that have them at the dragstrip any faster .. neither does the ceramic wheel bearing .. maybe the guys just don't know how to ride or something

BUT THE 200.00 NOZ set-up sure NETS results SOMETIMES

Well if the question isn't hypothetical, if we're talking about real motorcycles here on the planet Earth and like physics and stuff , then the question isn't does weight affect top speed, the question is how much does weight affect top speed. It might not affect it much with small changes, but it most certainly does affect it.

I am stripped, wrapped headers; stock exhaust... Bike jumps off the ground. I should be blown away bye the bikes I've come up against. They were light, pipe, poop in the pants was bury their balls.

Wait dis inn.... Fastso beat the babe. I think it is time is the time you nail the throttle is the time to the square of the dough nut hole.

Well, the question is, of course hypothetical. For starters, you cannot find two bikes exactly the same. You can't find two riders with exactly the same skill. You can't use the same bike on two different runs because the time of day will be different, (atmospheric conditions.) The left and right lanes will have different surfaces. There are endless variables which would have to be the same and the weight would have to be the onlything changed. But ultimately, everyone knows that the red bike will go faster than the blue bike!!
