hi there i topped up the oil on my 2007 zx14 the other day and over filled it to much. i was wondering if any of you guys have a way to get the oil out through the fill hole as to take the bung out would be a bit of drama.
1. Obviously, back to the drama of having the ease of the side stand, the pan, the 17mm spanner, the finger dexterity... Easiest.
2. Push the shift lever down to 1st gear, roll bike forward to get the chain slack out, lean the bike over with right bar on a chair; far enough over to see the oil near the cap. Add books if too low. A wall would be better if you can crawl under the bike some and crack the back end out far enough. Chair gives better access to the cap. Probably a turkey baster can suck the level out of it that far kinked over. Better to drain more out so you lift the bike once to inspect level.
3. A copper tube small enough to snake down past the clutch basket, plus long enough to retrieve if dropped. A long plastic hose that has a tight fit over the tube, and a length that can loop [not kink] and ends near the bottom of the drain pan. Get on your knees and make sure the end of the plastic tube does not extend higher than the oil level in the inspection glass window. Have the bike to sitting upright, suck on the hose until you see oil coming down the clear tube and point the end of the tube into the drain pan. Keep an eye on the oil level so as to stop the tube from draining any more.
Overfilled:
a. Can oil the ram chamber as the crankcase pushes the excess out to that capped drain tube down by the kickstand.
b. Can retain more heat with more oil. You want the metal to cool the oil not add oil and keep more oil hot.
c. Can alter the pressure under the pistons in a wink-wink sort of way.
