I didn't change the preload but I did turn the compression and rebound damping up a couple (or 3) of clicks on the front. I need to do the rear also, but haven't gotten around to it. Someday Ill get serious and do the sag and dial it in further (maybe) ;) . lol. Way to soft as delivered. Now its much better.

Just got ohlins rear shock re oiled, bought second hand oil escaped upon removal, after I install that and play around with front , I'll consider maybe k-tec fork internals if I can't get front performing well enough, Brembo mono blocs are probably on the shopping list

I am 200 suited and currently running with 6 lines showing on the preload. 10 clicks out on compression, 6 clicks out on rebound. I think that is actually less compression than stock, but it works. Forks dont dive excessively under hard breaking so maybe give it a try. Still working on my rear suspension but I feel I am close with 6/10ths of an inch showing on the threads for preload. 2 tuns out compression, 1.5 turns out on the rebound. I think I need less preload or rebound on the rear but will have to play to find out. About to add some links to my chain and slide the rear wheel back about an inch so we shall see how it feels after all that.

I would only buy the brembo's if you really feel you need to spend money. Or get a smoking deal on them. I have the EBC HH pads now and they are better than stock, imo. I don't need better brakes and I have no complaint about feel.

Admittedly I haven't ridden anything with them, but one of the 3 way tests of the zx10r, H2 and zx14r on youtube did a stopping test and the zx14 stopped the shortest, even being the heaviest. And Even though it may not have had Brembo's, vs the other 2 bikes that do. I think. That part really surprised me, but after some thought I bet the longer wheelbase and lower height allowed the rider to use more rear brake which def helped.

is that three clicks out from full stuff? I think that would rattle my teeth out. How much do you weigh?

I'll say that for the street F Rebound and Comp at 3 out (from the 1st click??) is way to stiff unless your fat ass requires it.

I'm 5'9" and 225 in gear. My track day setting are F Rebound 2 and Comp 6. Lower #'s are stiff. My track day settings were worked out over a day's sessions by the suspension guru at the Auto Club Speedway, a high speed track.

For the aggressive street I run F Rebound 6 from the 1st click and 10 Comp. I dont push it ever on the street - to many potholes, snakes and crap on the road, not to mention the oil from all of the pos gardeners trucks. Track is safe - road is not.

I do track on the 14 and weigh about 195lbs suited. My settings are:
Front:
Compression 5 clicks out
Rebound 3 clicks out
Preload 4 bars showing
Rear:
Compression 4 clicks out
Rebound 3 clicks out
Preload never adjusted as it is properly set for my weight and riding style from the factory

I want a bike that can change directions easily on the track and this is how I made the 14R do that.

The shocking thing was how much preload the rearshock has from factory compared to the front forks, dunno who made the standard setup guideline for it but it is designed to make the bike stable in a straight line. If you want a faster direction changing bike change everything but rear preload.

190/55 is overrated. 200/55 is where it is at.

The rear shock on my 08 had a huge amount of preload, too. The rear end was flying up off of bumps. I think this may have been for carrying a passenger, too.

3 clicks clockwise from factory standard settings, i weigh bout 85kg
its medium hard, not full hard, itsstiffer alright, but not bone jarring, if i had better road surfaces id go harder

Yes. 195lbs in full race gear(as I said in last post)
This bike is made to be soft from the factory. Even at full stiff it isn't as bad as a full race bike, trust me.
