80+ degrees, overcast i.e Perfect riding weather in Austin and surroundings. Did close to 200 miles today (2 tanks). Lime Creek Road, 1431, 344S, 1174, 2341, Park Road 4s, 281 are my fav roads in the Austin vicinity. Elevation changes, sweepers, twisty roads and pretty scenery. 3 times today I had a cager pull up on the side of the road so I can enjoy the oncoming sweepers. Now that's the texan hospitality I enjoy the most. I didn't even want to go fast but I had to make it worth while for him... Pinned the throttle in 3rd and the big car became a tiny dot....PRICELESS. lol

I heard FL is notorious for that... LA also. People drive a little crazy here, but once you get on the back roads you're good to go.

Yeah I'm going to try to get as much riding as I can right now because summer do get a little too hot here. 110 days over 90 degrees... Still better than snow so I shouldn't complain!

It also depends of who's in front of you. In this case it was a 1000RR riden by a local rider. Privateer, I get your point though a zx-14 road has to be easier than a 600 road. That's why in my quest to be a better rider I have to get a liter!

hey dragking, those are some good roads there. i've been riding the hill country for 20 years or so. i live in austin , too. was living in bastrop till the fires, will be moving back when my house is finished. put 25k on my 2000 zx12, she was still perfect too, but melted into a 2" thick puddle of aluminum. going to cleburn tomorrow to check out an 06 14, low miles, a few light mods. if it's as clean as he says i'm picking it up. if so, we need to hook up, i know some really good roads out west. i know you've heard of the "three twisted sisters" they're just a few hours away and some cool places to stop and cool off. i'll let you'll know if it works out. my screen name came from my zx10 buddy making fun of my candy persimmon red 12. i still outran him though! later yall

brent
thats the dripping springs kawasaki sign aint it? they're a lot better than woods honda kawasaki yamaha polaris etc. blablabla... i cant stand that place

Welcome to the forum bigred. Hope you get that 14 tomorrow. Either way, let me know. Oh and we're planning a trip to the sisters, check the group rides section.
Yes, you're right about Kawi sign! I talked to Sean at Woods about getting a zx-10. He's a pretty cool guy. That being said I'm not sure they got your back once you leave with a bike.
Sorry about your house. I think that took place a couple of weeks after I got to Austin. I could see the smoke from my house. Crazy!

hey d.k. i got the bike!! the weather was bad all the way from cleburne. glad i put it in the truck. couldn't stand it any more and dropped it out of the truck five miles from home and rode it on semi wet roads to the apartment. she feels great from what i could tell. gotta get insurance and tires, at least a front tire anyway, the back one is brand new. know anything about the bridgestone battleax? i tend to like dunlop q2's, on the 12 anyway. i guess he matched the new rear with the old front.... it's the original i guess. i guess i'm responsible for the bad weather cause i got a new bike. hopefully it will be nice later in the week. laters

That's what I would have done!
