Puig hugger, matte black = Perfect-O!
07/02/14 9:35 AM

Guys - I ordered a matte black Puig rear hugger off eBay (www.ebay.com/itm/181424775850) for $140.60 + $37.90 (shipping from Italy; I paid for it on June 20 & it arrive July 1) ... and this thing is perfect ... exactly what I wanted. The fit is perfect. Install was easy: Remove the 2 screws from the OEM chain guard and remove the guard; screw the new bracket (provided) to the right side, put the hugger in place and screw it down with the 4 provided screws. So easy, and a very satisfying mod with none of the usual side effects such as poor fitment, wasn't quite what I wanted, screws missing, etc etc

I don't like the carbon fiber look, well namely when it's on just one item on a bike (smacks of aftermarket), and this matte black finish literally looks exactly like the OEM rear fender. So, even for those who remove the rear fender, this thing will still look 100% OEM. Kawasaki really should've provided this with the bike

Heck, even the little Puig decal comes right off. Did I mention I prefer an OEM look?

Pics (raining out, so kinda limited garage pics, and some white items in the background do not make for great pics) ... with a stock photo at bottom:

OK see original post for pics.

Also added red rim stripes, which I like, and that red side graphic which I don't think I like

I like that side graphic a lot! Differentiates the bike, has that old school look. Goes great with the Muzzy's. Love that bike! Awesome job!

If you had red brake calipers it would tie the whole look together in my humble opinion.

Very nice. That would be the hugger I'd buy, if I got one. I'm not a fan of the fake (or even real) carbon ones that seem to be prolific. I say either match the paint, or make it black.

I also don't like those ones with the vent holes in them (kind of defeats the purpose, if you ask me).

Looks nice...so is everything the same? ....bolts right up to either ZZR or ZX14r?

My favorite too, for the reasons you mentioned. Looks good on that white bike.

Red gills.

The stock rear fender makes baby jesus cry.

I also put a Puig hugger on my bike, it was a PIA! Really needed to pull the mufflers and I didn't 'cause I was in a hurry. Bolt on right side to install bracket was tight to get to. Rear screw on chain guard hard to get to with muffler in the way on that side also. Truss head screws provided for left side must be a different pitch, couldn't find my metric pitch gauge to check but they wouldn't screw in to the bosses on the swing arm. The stock screws are a little on the short side but they did work, will have to go to hardware store and get a couple of longer screws to use long term. Looks good but the chainguard is a little on the flimsy side, they could have made it a little thicker. Overall I like the hugger and would buy one again if for nothing else but to keep crud off the shock. Oh, and next time, if there is one, I WILL pull the mufflers first!!!

^ It's not that much of a PIA.

Looks very, very nice even though you kinda have to be looking for it. Thanks for the post op, I really like mine!
