My Zx14r B-day Today
04/21/15 6:01 PM

So I have owned my bike for exactly 1 year. Been a blast of a year. I've rode a conservative 8k miles. 85% in the twisties. I have a love hate relationship with this bike. Not the best bike in tight twisties and switch backs. And now I have grown fond of dual sporting. But there is nothing like refined raw power in every gear. The buttery smooth transmission.
So here is to another year of great riding.
Cheers!

Cheers Woo glad you kept her. It's one thing to be good on a Ninja 300 in tight twisties, it's a whole another level to be good on a 14R. I don't know, I probably don't have roads around here like you have any where, but I find a few places to play and don't really have a problem flicking her around in some really tight areas. Maybe suspension tuning? Maybe tires (Q3s > M5s for sure)? Maybe just a pure need to be the fastest in every section of road? If you haven't already dump that dual exhaust and run a couple gallons less than capacity, that'll knock 35-40 lbs right off.

Congrats!

I am going into my 2nd year of ownership, unfortunately the 14R goes into hibernation each winter. My Dual-Sport is one of my winter bikes.

If you are looking to pick up a good solid Dual-Sport, I heartily recommend the mighty DR650. I have taken mine some amazing places and she just keeps going.

Too heavy to be a true dirt bike, but definitely does what I ask of her. It has the added bonus of hauling ass through the very tight twisties faster and much easier than any of my other bikes. It just lacks the jaw dropping power on corner exits...

Congrats Mrwoo. Maybe it's time to take the girl on a trip or two. These bikes make a real fun sport tourer. Take the backroads up to Lassen through Quincy and over 36 to the coast. Nothing better.

NeedforSpeed I'm fixing my sv650s up to sell, to pick up a dual sport.

Maddevill, my riding group is headed that way this weekend. They're camping a Mattole Beach. Can't make the over night rides. But I do luv a good Quincy ride. LA Porter rd. The group does a biscuits and gravy ride once a month to Quincy.

Just into the 4th year with my '12 model 14R (ZZR1400 over here) with 20500 miles up. Looking forward to some more 600+ mile days again this summer, the 14's a real mile cruncher.

I had one of these for 'dual sporting' as you call it, we call it trail riding over here:

but unfortunately some thieving scumbag decided he liked it as much as I did so I now have one of these:

A Dr650 would be best. But will take what I can get for the price of my sv650s.

Thats hilarious! ... and so much fun!

Congrats to MrWoo, may you enjoy many more.

You guy *rock* with those DSs. I can only smile and hope to be liberated form the travesty of my arm sling soon.
