The Gen3 Hayabusa did 169.5 mph in the .8 mile. This is a higher speed than the Gen2 Hayabusa or the ZX-14R. The quarter mile time of 9.89 seconds at 143 mph and the 0-60 mph time of 2.69 don't sound better. I still have yet to hear the Gen3 busa hits top speed faster than the H2 or any other comparable bike.

The Gen3 busa makes 193 hp/158 tq with just an Akrapovich exhaust designed especially for the Gen3 busa. I would assume those numbers were the result of an AFR tune with the pipe but its extremely doubtful anyone has developed a flash for this bike yet. Still behind on hp by a few but that torque...!
I'm predicting that with a flash, the Gen3 busa will equal the 14R on hp but it's already smashed it on torque.
Will Kaw rebut or will they let the H2 take care of it? You aren't beating that torque on an H2 or anything.

158 torque?? Not possible. Misprint or typo in the post.
Ooops, it was 158 Nm not ft lb.
That's 116.8 ft lb, edging out the 14R.
This is a repeat of 08 when the Gen2 busa made a couple more ft lb of torque and a few more hp than the Gen1 ZX-14.

Just red Mark Hoyer initial ride report for Cycle on the new gen 3. No hard test data yet but a good initial ride report. This bike looks pretty good to me based on this initial ride report. All the existing hot rod parts for the gen 2 will go right on. I really do like all the added features this gen 3 brings to the party at my advanced age LOL.

Good review alright. It's a very nice bike.Just the looks of it gave me the impression it's a step above the 14r.Now it's Kawasaki's turn. They need an upgrade on their 14's.I think so.IMO the 14r(new ones)should have cruise control.Electronic suspension.TFT dashes.Wheely control.Bosch IMU.Stylema brakes. And get those bars back some.
Suzuki did nail it I think.Mark Hoyer did a good job with his honest review.
The ONLY thing I wish was a bit different on that busa is the side fairing design. To me it looks a bit too 'hondaesque'.Sweeping back and having that arc to it.But the bodywork is sweet. And the paint.

Embarrassed to say, but they were filming the bike on a landing strip and when he opened the throttle, I doubt the 14 would match how fast that thing took off from a rolling start.
Same vid and the guy mentions the bike is not as 'brutal' as other sport bikes? That kind of bike I think he's meaning you lose your grip on the handlebars. And that's where my cash is looking for.
We have a 170 torquer short of an E bike acceleration in the works?

5:25, did you see him stop at the end of that runaway? Time for Depends.
It's too early to tell, a lot of busa fans are very optimistic but you still hear the detractors lamenting the 10 hp deficit the stock Gen3 has compared to the Gen2 and still more claiming the Gen1 is still the best bike if really going fast is what you're after. As for me, I'm skeptical the Gen 3 busa will outdo the Gen2 ZX-14R. It just doesn't seem like some stock engine refinements could produce more power than an extra hundred cc displacement. If it does, I hope Kawasaki will do more than simply retool the same old engine on the 14R.

With a skilled rider a stock 14R definitely will break under 10 seconds Rook. Good times in drag racing is in the first 60-70 feet and a reasonably skilled LIGHT RIDER (under 170 pounds dressed).

A guy in Tampa Bay that ran the ZX-14.com site ran a best of 8.43 at 164.95 with a stock 2012 ZX14.
Valve cover was never off it, chassis was well set up, and the rider light and experienced.
I don't believe the bike was ever lightened per say...
Site is shut down now but you can still search and find some interesting stuff.

That guy must have been Smokin. I'm pretty sure Smokin was the guy I saw in a video recently talking about racing the stock ZX-14R.

I’m trying to follow the latest on the Gen3 busa but there is page after page on the org and very little real hard info. What I have found out is that the Gen3 doesn’t come wth the hump or a fuel tank prop rod. You have to buy them separate. Hopefully that’s all they cheaped out on but I’d say that’s crazy for an 18000 dollar bike. Dealerships are selling above MSRP now too! The paint is very vulnerable to scratching, a couple people said they have already damaged the tank paint just riding the bike. As far as the the electronics, Chris Moore tested his at an eighth mile drag strip and found it best to turn wheelie control and launch control off. The quick shifter was better in street mode than sport mode and it missed once. The Gen3 clutch is no good for drag racing and he is switching in the Gen2 clutch. Doing the math, his best bone stock quarter mile time would have been low 10s. There is a Gen3 busa with a pipe out there getting 9.1~9.2 passes. Nothin we haven’t seen already. I’m hoping the top speed numbers will be more impressive. Great looking bike but I don’t feel I’m missing anything with my Gen2.

2022 Suzuki Hayabusa vs Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R / Hyperbike Spec Comparison
Interesting.
But again, man did Suzuki miss a massive trick here...
