Hypertouring Mods finally complete!
09/22/17 2:40 PM

She's finally done! After adding SW Motech racks, Shad and Givi hard bags, Sargent seat, and an ABM Handlebar Conversion Kit, my 2014 14Ris a comfortable, fast as hell tourer. I did have to lower the exhaust a bit, but that was incredibly easy with the bracket I found at J&P Cycles website. I added the part number/decal that was on the packaging to make it easier for anyone else that is going to do these mods.

Wow! That looks great! Did the handlebar mod require longer cables?
Thanks!

The ABM kit came with all the additional cables needed. I have longer, steel braided cables by Core Moto that I will be installing this winter to make everything standardized.

After fitting the same bars I found a LOT of wind buffeting.
Your head ends up higher, right in THE AIR.
Looking into better / bigger screens, & after a lot of research I came up with THE answer, adding a------
Laminar Lip screen with correct spacing & positioning.
Zero buffeting now.,
Like your colour scheme. A bit

That is great! These bikes are fantastic for sport-touring! I have almost exactly the same set-up, though with just Gen-Mar risers, Corbin saddle (and just their little glove box vs a top trunk).

You are missing some important electronic devices - they keep me out of trouble and routed to the twisty deserted backroads.

Radar detector, GPS, and tire pressure monitor.

No trips scheduled yet... just getting my wife sorted out after a successful battle against pancreatic cancer. She rides as well and I need her to put back on some pounds and gain her strength back!

This was the first year I missed riding to Laguna Seca for WSBK races. If all goes well, we'll be riding out for that one next summer!????????

Banknyank,

I miss touring Aussie land!! I was at Woomera for two years with the USAF (92-94). Did a lot of two wheeled adventures while I was there!

BTW, you did get the fastest color scheme!!

Looks great! Agreed the ZX14 is a great sport touring bike. Just got back from a 1,000 mile tour through the NC mountains ... Dragon, Blue Ridge Parkway, The Whip, The Rattlesnake, Cherohala Skyway, and some other "un-named" twisty roads

Here I am followed by 1 of my buds on his FJR: https://killboy.photoreflect.com/store/Orderpage.aspx?pi=04RK0348080404&po=404&pc=1172

Hey Lee, pleased to hear your wife is on the mend mate.
The pillion in a million I'm sure.
My lady & I did a 5,000klm two up trip over a couple of weeks, not once did she complain, I knew there n then she's a keeper.
Yea the red & matte black takes some beating.
Woomera hey, that's out in the back blocks for sure. Never been there, but passed close by a couple of times.
You guys enjoy that super quick tourer together.
