Anyone who can read Chinese offset footpeg instructions?
02/21/19 1:46 PM

Anyone out there who can read the Chinese instructions for the offset footpegs that arrived at my home today?

It's pretty obvious how the footpegs work generally:
- You choose the "short" or "long" offset arms, each iof which gives you TWO different offsets for a total of 4 choices
- You "pin" the offset arms at 1 of 8 selectable positions relative to the OEM mount stirrup, and bolt them with the tapered head bolts
- You bolt on the footpegs to the arms

But I am wondering what the Chinese text might add as important details for proper assembly.

The bottom of the instruction page appears like it is "cut off" or folded, but no, this is the entire sheet I got.

I think it says......

"Make sure to use Locktite" (Chinese knockoff spelling of Loctite)

Installed! It was easy. I chose the longer 40mm or 50mm offset brackets, but the shorter 40mm offset on those brackets. And, instead of going straight back, which was impossible because you run into the stock exhaust, I went upward and rearward, so the rearward component of the vector was only maybe one inch.

That was enough for my legs to clear the footpegs with space in between the footpegs and the back of my legs.

But that was also a small enough move that I have no problem reaching the brake lever and gearshift lever.

The OEM footpegs that came off weigh 0.69 lb.

The offset footpegs with the longer offsets, which I used, weigh 0.61 lb.

The offset footpegs with the shorter offsets weigh 0.55 lb. for those counting ounces (Rook!!)

Here are some photos:

In these photos, I have the lowered seat installed, with 1.5 inches total removed from the seat height. So, now my 29" inseam can comfortably and securely balance the bike - even with those ugly heavy OEM mufflers hanging high and wide off each side. Plus, the seat height reduction also lowers my center of gravity when riding.

I already blew that one. I have Rearsets and they are heavier than stock. Your .08 lb weight loss made this mod a winner all around. That's over an ounce and you had to do it anyway. Looks good. I would have gone with the longer offsets too.

I should also have mentioned: The quality of these Hong Kong offset peg kits is fantastic. perfect machining and finish on the ones I got. They look WAY better than the OEM footpegs.

And, the hardest parts of the installation were removing the OEM snap ring, and inserting the OEM spring into the new stirrup. Beyond that, loctiting and threading in 2 bolts (on each side - left footpeg and right footpeg).

Pretty sweet.

I think:
1. he does not read Chinese

and

2. He is not serious. :)

The reason I aksed about what the text said is I wondered if the text gave any specifics, for example torque settings for the 2 slightly different sizes of metric fasteners.
