Hot Wind Cover Pads and Brackets

Hot Wind Covers and Brackets

The hot wind cover brackets inside of the side fairings may be removed as a preliminary step to removing the front directional light. They also can be removed permanently to eliminate excess weight.

Tools:
phillips head screwdriver
#8 neoprene washers (optional)

Remove foremans, ram air covers, tank fairing, lowers, upper inner fairing, side fairings and inner fairings (see Fairings Removal).

1. lay the side panel with the inside facing up. Use a phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws that secure the hot wind cover brackets to the front directional light assy.

2. Remove the hot wind cover brackets with foam hot wind covers. Using the phillips
head screwdriver, reinstall the screws to the same holes to secure the front directional light.

If the screws do not go in far enough to hold the direction al light assy tabs tight against their mounts, thread a #8 neoprene washer onto the screw as a spacer. Reinstall the screw. Do not attempt to crush the neoprene washer as would normally be done. The plastic threads in the fairing are not strong enough for that much force.

The hot wind cover pads and brackets weigh 10.2 oz.

Install inner fairings, side fairings, tank cover, ram air covers, foremans and lowers(see Fairings Removal).

That is a nice improvement if the 14r doe s not need them. Must say, my bike with all the heat insulation removed feels pretty hot on my legs.
