Anybody checked with a wideband how good the free PCV maps are?

Hey guys just wondering how good those maps are that you can download from the power commander website is. Like checked it with a wideband or how it compared to a custom tune. my bike seems to run good with the free map I got from power commander for full exhaust and flies removed but to be honest it ran good with the stock tune as well. I do EFI Live tuning on cars so I have fun playing with this stuff but this is a bit different than the tuning software I am used to. honestly I wish I could find a bone stock tune so I could compare it with the P commander map. I see they have a 0 map but doesn't that just mean there is no change to the stock map? Doesn't really show what the stock map is.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

If that's the case, you won't notice any major change in performance unless you race. You're probably not going to notice much change by the seat of your pants though many disagree.

Tuning is vital for boost or NOS but running NA, my opinion is the bike is very similar to stock or a good map. I've tuned mine with AUTOTUNE and I like Romans base map a bit better but I'm not so sure I would notice if I were not trying to find some change from one map to the other.

I tuned my Gen 1 AFR to 13.2

Most maps will have multiple AFRs so it is not as easy as looking at the AFR gauge for a constant number. AFR also fluctuates from just about everything from hotter weather to someone in front of you left a fart. Autotune also only samples at 10x/second which is a lot less than many higher end systems you might use to detect AFR. It works but it is not fast.

I see they have a 0 map but doesn't that just mean there is no change to the stock map? Doesn't really show what the stock map is.

No. it does not show what the stock map is. All you need to do is zero out all cells in the fuel table and the AFR table and you have a zero map. That will run stock. You could store the zero map in the PCV and switch if you get a map switch in the system.

If you love fiddling with this stuff like I do, have at 'er but like I said, if the bike ran good stock and with a map, I don't think you will recognize any big increase in power by perfecting your AFR. The main reason I see for most of us to use a PCV is to make sure the AFR is safe even though it probably is if the bike runs good.

Autotune DOES zero in on the exact target AFR correcting as you ride but it can only do this effectively while you are cruising. TP and RPM change far too rapidly in all other riding situations for AutoTune to keep up in real time. That is why you need to do multiple tuning runs for each TP in the table.

It works. I'm not badmouthing AutoTune or PCV but it is not something you can just put on the bike and it will produce shocking changes...unless the bike was running poorly from running at high altitude or some other severe conditions maybe.

the pics are not currently up on this thread but you will get the idea from the text alone.
