Dynojet Maps
04/17/09 12:55 PM

Anybody have good luck with the maps off the Dynojet website compared to a custom map? I'm thinking about a Sato full system for my CBR 1000RR and dynojet makes a map specifically for that application with stock filter. I'm just wondering if it's any good.

I can vouch for the flies out, stock exhaust map that is available on their website. -bg

Both my zx14 and zx10r are running off of maps from the Dynojet site. Had to try a few on for size before I was happy with the zx14. Got it right the first try on the zx10.
If they're sayin' the map is supposed to be for the set up you're runnin', I'd think the map would work well for you.
In my case they didn't have maps for exactly how either of my bikes are setup. I just tried the ones that sounded close.

I've had some bad luck with the "custom tuning" route in the past . The guy who's doing the mapping has to know what he's doing for sure and a lot of them unfortunately, don't. I figured the DJ maps will work well and should be very close if the map matches the state of tune of the bike. Whhich map did you get for your 10 i.e. what mods did you have on it?

Engine performance wise it's got a S/O, filter, and the secondaries removed. Thinkin' a TRE is next. It has the same decel cut out as the 14.

I've done some "blingy" stuff to it to. Took a few pics a couple days ago:

Yes I know I need to rub out where the Akra sticker was on the pipe. Couldn't see the outline until I pulled the bike out into the sun.
My HeliBars and zx14 brakes for the 10 should be here any day!
I put 300 miles on the 10 yesterday...all for a burger...the ride the weather and the burger were awesome!!!

Actually it was the frist time I really felt like I had found that "groove" on the zx10. It'd had me timid since the spill.

Thinkin' about doin' a '08/'09 swingarm swap.
Tell me this don't look sweet!!!

What else would I do with my $$$. Lose it in a 401K??? Ha!

I tried the Muzzy map when I put the 4into1 system on. She ran well. Big difference when the custom mapping was done. If you want to get the most out of your performance mods, dyno tuning is the way to go. Be sure to find a good tech. I used Powerhouse on Long Island.

Thanks!
Only the titanium one is mine. It's an '05.
The blue one belongs to a guy over on zx10r.net. It's an '04.

The 10 looks killah dogo, good job! I am not in the 'groove' yet with my CBR, the handling is just too quick and nervous feeling to inspire much confidence...especially the front end feel. I feel like I'm dropping into the corner rather than rolling into it like on the 14 I trust the 14 immensely and can actually push it harder in the corners than the literbike. Fast riding is all about trust and the CBR has scared me a few times already when the front end felt like it tucked in a corner. The 14 is slower to turn in but feels solid and planted.... I feel like I'm riding it and not the other way around. This was enlightening to me because I thought I'd automatically be faster in the corners on a literbike....not true , at least not yet.

I know exactly what ya mean. I'm sure you remember that on my first ride on my ten, I exited this corner on my ass!

12k miles in 6 months on a zx14 made me think I was gonna just hop on a litre bike and throw it around like a BMX...

HA!!!

Lessen learned. Ego bruised. Damper added!

Makes a huge difference turning in on the zx10!
On the zx14 it is really just another piece of "man bling".

Infact on the 14 my damper is set on the 3rd click....
On the 10 it is on the eighth!

So did you pick up that exhaust for your CBR???
I've been eyeballin' the new C/T, for the zx14.

I've been happy with my S/O's but I dunno.... might be time for a system????
The new C/T is $$$ though!!!

But from what I've heard about Brock's customer service and map support, it just might be worth it.

Did you get headshake on the 10R? My CBR has the electronic HESD steering damper, it's almost transparent in operation, at low speeds you can't tell it's working and at high speed .......you still can't tell it's working but it is. Seamless, I came out of a second gear turn Sunday with an uninintentional wheelie and dropped the front back down crossed up. No drama at all, straightened right up and flew straight. Those dampers are a life saver. I'm definitely taking it easy on the CBR, don't want to throw it down the road like you did.......Ouch, that had to hurt!

No, I didn't get headshake. Never had the zx10r fast enough to worry about it before putting the damper on. The big difference the damper has made for me, on the 10, is just slowing the stearing down a bit, hence no more unanticipated "diving" into the corners.

Yes, the crash hurt... luckily my wallet more than anything else!

So you oversteered, tucked the front tire under and then did a moon shot Dogo! I can see how it could happen, these things are quick. The 14 feels really safe by comparison, nuetral and solid. The 14's almost caught me out a couple times though when I put on brand new tires. The big girl will surprise you how fast she can turn in on a tight corner.

I entered the corner hot, about 45mph. Corner is a posted 10mph 90 degree uphill. When I got into the apex, at around 35mph, I dug a little deeper in order to be set up better for the posted 15 mph corner that immediately follows. The bike turned in way quicker than I was expecting, and the 4 year old Dunlops could not keep grip on the 40 degree December roads. Got excited about my new toy and didn't use my head... instead I nearly planted it into a guardrail... only missed sliding into it by a few inches... luckily ended up just resting in a pile of maple leaves... in a graveyard, seriously!

Those ZX-10s look hot Dogo,I prefer your '04 to the '07 and '08/'09 models. I found this pic of an '07 CBR 1000 same color as mine with some interesting bits on it....this bike is sick! I like that Arata full system.

Yeah Kruz,
I think we both got the best years of our bikes!

That '07 CBR is super nice! Ohlins and Brembo, mmmmm.

Only things I'd change are those belly pan stickers (just not my thing) and the Gilles adjusters. I was actually considering picking up a set of those up for the zx14 (LP has them on ebay for $100).... then I came across this vid:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqoFFCvBwbc

I think that's one piece of bling I'll pass on.

I like that Arata! The crowd seems to be split down the middle as to which full system is best on the gen1 zx10r, the Arata or Akra Evo2. But I think I like the Sato best. Found a pretty good deal on a Sato system but think I'm going to hold off. I found a pair of Brembo rotors I think I'm gonna pick up, though. Gotta pull my stockers today and put them on a scale before I make my final decision. Brembos weigh 3 pounds each, but I can't find anyone who knows how much the stockers weigh.

Same here, looking hard at the Sato Race and Sato Evo, not sure what the difference is besides about $200. Yup, '04/'05 was the best ZX-10 they ever made for sure and I like that titanium paint, simple but elegant. I agree those stickers on the CBR are a bit too Joe Racer for my taste. The stock paint already looks bling enough as is. I really like the '07 in silver/black classy like the titanium but unfortunately none were available. Good site to compare HP and weights, check out how light the '04 was 436 wet!
