What? The splines don't match? The lever is too long?

I have the HM+ but it works with a linkage rod and it is on a Gen1.

Like Rook I have an HM Plus but on a 14R.
Fit perfectly (except the need to have the hands the size of a 4 year old to connect the quick shifter leads to the coils).

Thanks for responding guys first and foremost!... Yes Rook, the splines did not match. I guess one of the machines at their factory malfunctioned and made the splines circumference to small. So kind of jumpstarted a small Recall. I'm just waiting to get the damn lever back! I even sent them my OEM lever for reference. They said this is the first time something like this has happened. Apparently Aprillia and our bikes are suppose to fit the same. Somebody slipped the ball. Almost 3 weeks now and counting. Mounting everything else was a piece of cake!

Mounting everything else was a piece of cake!

You're a better man than me Charlie Brown because splicing in the connections to the top of the coils in the very tight and restricted space available was a nightmare for me when I installed my HM Plus quick shifter.

And I know because I did it twice.
Once on my Gen1 2007 and once on my Gen2 2012.

Definitely glad it went well for you 14isKing.
But you must have very small hands...

Lol @yannih in most situations,I wish I did have small hands dealing with the 14s maintenance. I've played in that small space many times now to know the ins and outs... (1)Removed Secondary Flies 2)Upgraded Spark Plugs 3)Removed Pair Valve System) but yea I know what you mean...There was few times I left the bike on the stands and just went in the house to regroup...yelling at things..you know! Lol

Yep, done all those as well.
Add the quick shifter installation and my hands looked like I'd been playing with a very angry sharp clawed cat!

Its done now and has been for a few years.
Thankfully my bike is 100% mod completed with nothing outstanding and exactly the way I want it.

Oh, and my hands have also now healed...

@yannih & @rook in your estimation ... Do you feel the Quickshifter worth the buy? I've been told that by some its phenomenal and some say its clunky in certain gears. My first choice was to get a Translogic shifter because of their self adaptive system which I thought was really intriguing.but unfortunately I guess they aren't worried about our line of bikes so that's not an option. So I went with the alternative, but if these guys dont get it figured out soon il probably be looking at a heal tech.

Rule #1 on this site.
Always follow what Rook and Hub (if you understand Hubspeak) say.
These two guys are amazing.
Plus check out Rook's how to's.
The guy now knows enough on the 14 to consult to Kawasaki...

Do you feel the Quickshifter worth the buy?

I think its relative and what you want from it.

Personally I love my HM Plus and am very happy it's on my bike.
I don't use it all the time but when I need it it's there and works extremely well.
I predominantly use it on the track or when I need max acceleration when some fool or mate is trying to race me which is not often.
Except for 1st-2nd shifts where I rarely use it anyway (but can sometimes cause a clunky un-smooth shift), everything else is super smooth as long as
- your quick shifter is installed, adjusted and set correctly
- you shift at fairly high rev ranges
- your shifts are very definite and not half hearted otherwise you risk a false neutral

It works for me and I wouldn't change it.
The only two additives I would have liked is "specific gear" adjustment rather than "across the board" range and auto down shift option.
These are available on the market but of course the related cost skyrockets.

Again only you can say if the type and brand of quick shifter you have selected is worth it but I am a definite HM Plus quick shifter fan...

Wish I had that sort of working space/area.
I envy you...

@yannih yep already been looking at their stuff for atleast 2 yrs on their Detailed installations.. helped out with me removing my tank and routing a PC5 correctly..since then I have removed and got my ECU flashed and tuned by the Nels at 2Wheel Dynoworks. I'm pretty sure I will dig the Plus SS quickshifter. Only thing I'm kind of worried about is while waiting on HM to send me a brand new lever out.. I have since upgraded my Sprockets/Chain and Gear setup.. now running a 16/43T, my goal is to get a bit more pop down low. since the bike is unlocked and tuned to handle more. I've been seeing where some folks claim that the gearing stutters in some gears but alot also say its flawless and a good balance of torque Nd power without sacrificing so much top end. Guess il have to play it out.

@yannih & @rook in your estimation ... Do you feel the Quickshifter worth the buy? I've been told that by some its phenomenal and some say its clunky in certain gears.

I would do it all over again but I would go with the top of the line HM GP. Why, ....

- your shifts are very definite and not half hearted otherwise you risk a false neutral

I'd like too use this thing at 10k rpm but high rpm is where I have this trouble and I even made certain to give it a definite shift. I could try a longer kill time but I can shift with the clutch faster than 90 mms so I'd just do that.

- your quick shifter is installed, adjusted and set correctly

I need to experiment with the angle of the shift knuckle/lengthof shift rod. Also experiment more with sensitivity and kill times. Mine works flawlessly below 6000 rpm but the upper Rs are hit or miss. ... and it sounds very bad when I miss.

The only two additives I would have liked is "specific gear" adjustment rather than "across the board" range and auto down shift option.
These are available on the market but of course the related cost skyrockets.

One more reason I would give the HM GP a shot. It has more parameters to adjust within and as I understand, it even self adjusts with the Seamless Shift tech my HM Plus lacks.

But yeah, you're going to pay over a thou for that HM GP. I guess I would do it.

You also can get the HM GP to auto blip for clutches downshifts.

To me, the HM Plus is worth the money for how much fun it is but the HM GP would probably be more user friendly and worth the higher price tag.

@Rook That sounds awesome... I went with the HM Plus SS because the US Rep based out of Manteca,CA acted as if he never heard of the HM GP quickshifter version. He said he contacted headquarters in the UK and the only available version at this time was the Plus SS otherwise o would have jumped all over that. Il stay humble with the version I have coming because technically I'm not a racer anymore. I find myself becoming more and more a tourer. I really like cruising and exploring new rides and often on open straights/etc. Il open her up but other than that I'm not banging excessively thru the gears. Pretty sure I'm goin to love this thing. Still waiting on HM to send out my new lever frin the UK. They are hoping to have the new batch from the Recall finished by the end of the week and be able to ship out to everybody affected. Hope so...eager to try this out with my new gearing setup/sprockets.

WTH?????? I have been eyeing the HM GP for about 6 years now. You mean to tell me they advertise it and it still does not exist to this day?? Something is weird there. In any case, you will enjoy a thrill not quite like any other with the HM Plus SS. I have heard of people clutches shifting by only backing out/in on the throttle quickly. I haven't tried it. I might try it in conjunction with my quick shifter. Couldn't hurt.

The PC5 also has a quick shifter feature that enables both a fuel cut and ignition cut. I am looking forward to playing with that. Might chop the wire on my HM Plus to see if I can get it to work with the PC5 like the DJ shifter.

BTW----HM supposedly makes a shifter especially for the PCV. I recently enquired about it and got no information on that. I wonder if HM sells some of its products only in the UK for some reason?

The HM Rep I spoke to today said they offer it for our bikes but highly encourage a rearset/linkage rod setup.(obviously) I'm still waiting to see what they would quote me for a one at a discounted price due to my initial plus ss lever being defective and the slow process of 3 weeks and counting with no new replacement yet.

Dude, if you can get it in your price range, go with the GP!!!!!! Yes, you obviously need rear sets and that's another $300 but you'll like them better than OEM pegs for the added grip alone. I recommend Vortex. I have Satos on my busa and they are no better than Vortex but they are less grippy on the pegs for sure. Some have complained the Vortex pegs wear out their boot soles but I have had no such problem. The drawback is rear sets are a bit heavier than stock and as far as I can tell, the cornering clearance is the same as OEM with the resets all the way up and back. The foot pegs are longer than OEM and do not have a beveled bottom.

True Rook, but if you ride hard enough you will bevel your rear set footpegs to the perfect angle automatically!

That's true! I still haven't gotten there but if I do, I'll make sure I bevel the Vortex pegs to the perfect angle on a bench grinder! Scraping knee pucks on the sidewalk is for squids but foot pegs are different.
