ZZR1400 to Croatia
09/14/09 4:16 PM

A few pics of our (wife and me) trip from the UK down to Croatia. For the first time we used the Autozug (motorail) from Dusseldorf to Verona to save a days motorway riding. Not a great experience - expensive, cramped and very noisy. Next time we'll revert to riding the whole way. Croatia though was just great. The main coast road is a bikers heaven - twisty roads hugging the coastline of the Adriatic. Hotels we stayed in were great, the people were lovely and the food and drink were super and great value. Only saw one other UK bike in the 10 days (V-strom). Will definatey be going again. Nearly forgot to mention - the ZZR14 was faultless over the 2,000 miles. That's now 18,000 miles in 18 months!!

Arriving at the Autozug terminal in Dusseldorf

Never put much thought in this before, but you go through the Euro tunnel
from England to France and there it is- a whole continent driving
on the other side of the road...

That will be a shocker for me.
I've been to England a few times but never had a chance (or desire) to drive or ride.
Riding culture shock of some sort.

it takes considerable concentration at all times to ride in a different country as well as on the opposite side of the road!!

just yesterday 3 english bikers were killed in northern italy when they exited a tunnel on the wrong side and were hit head on by a truck!! one of the pillions remains in a critical condition!
this is a sobering thought, especially as i love travelling in different countries on my bike!

sooo many busas......sooo little time!
