New CDL driver
02/11/19 8:01 PM

It's embarrassing to post these photos because I was a CDL Driver for 32 yrs. Last 31 yrs without a moving violation ticket or "my fault" accident.
Some idiot decided to take a shortcut on dirt road (road 49 Yell Cty, AR) through a forest and came to a Bridge not strong enough for a 1-ton Dually.
A sign at both ends says no more than 6T or 12,000lb. on one lane bridge. Did the driver think this bridge is too fragile?
No! Full Steam ahead!
It has rained over 4" in this area since this incident, but I'm going to find this spot.

Looks like the cab is under water. Did the driver survive?

Is that bridge over the Fourche LaFave river?

This is Petit Jean River, west of Highway 7. Driver survived. No Semi should be on that road. An empty Rig weighs about 34,000 lb. Report said the Rig weighed 76,000 lb. In 2010 I had a special GPS Garmin type Unit that recognized HAZMAT restrictions, restricted Bridges, etc. Though it missed some roads.
This is driver's error. I wonder if the driver could read/write/speak English?

Ah OK I see it now. What in the world is a truck that big doing that far in the woods on a dirt road??

He didn't quite make it. That reminds me of the guy who used to drive my dad's semi with dump box under a too low train bridge to get to a short cut instead of going all the way around town. He made it every time as long as he was loaded. Then one day, he forgot he wasn't loaded. They released the air from the tires and that was enough to get it out.

You know it is a tiny road when "Google Maps Car" has not driven it.

Yeah, I tried that too. You can see from the aerial that it's a narrow dirt road winding all through trees. Looks like barely more than a trail. Surprising there's even a bridge on it.

Google maps will have to do something about that.
