Really simple to use:
- Select the right size of connector given the wire sizes to be joined (the product package includes 4 different sizes that will handle virtually all automotive and motorcycle needs)
- Strip a SHORT (approx 3/8 inch) section of the end of each wire
- Feed the 2 wires into the opposite ends of the connector, making sure the 2 stripped sections of wire overlap in the centre of the connector
- Apply heat with a heat gun (NOT a hair dryer. You need the heat of heat gun)
The different sections of the connector behave as follows:
- The solder in the centre section metals and electrically joins the 2 wires
- The 2 blobs of plastic (one for each wire) melt to seal the wire mechanically into the connector AND to waterproof the connection
- The clear plastic tube shrinks to tightly enclose everything
I just used the second smallest size to connect my new LED license plate light on my ZX-14R to a 6” section of wiring with a factory connector salvaged from the old incandescent license plate light. Very fast, easy, and reliable. Much better than soldering and wrapping in tape, and way, way more reliable, and much physically smaller, than vampire or suitcase connectors.
