Mileage?
06/05/12 2:26 PM

Just wondering what kind of mileage you peeps with the stock ZX-14R are getting?

I am averaging about 34 mpg in F-1; tried a coupla weeks in L-1 cause someone somewhere on a forum said they got better mileage in that mode. My bike returned about 32 mpg in L-1. Also was not as fun!

Of course I am back in F-1 for now. Haven't done any expressway droning yet so the figures above relate to combined riding with commuting and spirited pleasure riding only.

Anyone? have some input on this topic?

Cheers!

Full and low power never made a difference for me in mpgs because its only low above 6500. And highway cruising is below 6500

On a 12O mile motorway cruise keeping it between 80/90 mph got a return of 49.8 mpg, on a very windy day, but that was trying to get as high mpg as I could, just to see what was obtainable

I usually average about 40mpg per tank. I have gotten low 30s a couple times, but 40 or 42 is doable if you are careful and are looking to maximize range. Stock 2012

My average via on board comp is 36.7 as of today... 4769 miles on the clock.
That's all types of riding... highway, back roads, and route 19 which is a nest of 37 traffic lights.

I just did a 182 mile trip on Sunday with a group of guys and I was pretty conservative with the throttle. I filled up before I left and it took 4.081 gallons when I got home. 182 / 4.081 = 44.5 MPG.

On the the way home from picking my bike up I averaged 39 mpg over the 305 mile trip home , but my bike had zero miles so it wasn't broke in at all , now riding pretty hard with racing involved on a 100-150 mile ride I average 34 mpg that's with new exhaust btw

The recurring topic and Xyzzy's spreadsheet made me think some guys might appreciate this website:
http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/kawasaki/zx-14r

There's only 9 zx14 and 3 zx14r on there now, but still good if you're interested in tracking your fuel mileage.
