Cooler weather Clothing
10/13/19 12:23 PM

I've been using pants made by railriders.com for cooler weather riding. I found a pair of lined-nylon pants 10 yrs ago at Goodwill for $6 and they worked great. I always order from their Sale Outlet tab. The lined Kodiak Nylon is 6oz. (doubled material in butt and knee), is windproof (50mph), every pocket (7) has a zipper and it has an elastic waist with nylon belt. They are closing these pants out and replacing them with stretch material. $66 plus $10 to ship. I had them on yesterday, it was 52 degrees when I left the house. Very soft material.
I ordered another pair.
Personally, I do not like Spandex added to clothing, but the whole Textile Industry is going down that road.

Try Klim Gore-tex jackets and pants. Costly, but I ride comfortably, and waterproof, even at 0 Celsius = 32 Fahrenheit, and it's a once-for-a-lifetime expenditure.

Yes,electric vests are warm,BUT the one you posted about operates at onlyuSB power levels, which are rather modest. Get a REAL electric vest powered from the bike's TWELVE volt system, and consuming moreAMPS as well.More voltage and more amps means more watts, and sometimes you NEED those watts.:)

Never ran short of power running electric jacket, gloves pants and radar detector. What else do you plug in?

The issue is that heated vest is USB powered.

USB output around 5vdc 500 milliamps = around 2.5 watts

12vdc port/wired fused at 10amps = 10 amps 120 watts

Typical heated gloves around 30 watts 2.5 amps

USB port not a very good power port for heated gear, couldn't
run even a standard pair of heated gloves off USB

I use 2 fused coax leads directly from the battery and connected to two heat controllers. One runs the jacket and the other the gloves and pants if I use them. Has to be really frigid-like today-to use the pants.
