So I finally got a ZX-14. I've been drooling over these things since the 2012 facelift. Pulled the trigger this week on a 2022 with 7 miles on it. Got a decent deal in my opinion since it was used. Has a small crack on the bottom of the fairing and a nick in the paint on the seat cowl. ( I think that is what it is called). I've been lurking this sight for years reading and looking at pictures of yalls bikes, now I'm officially in. Have a couple of questions if you all don't mind.

1. First almost new bike and I didn't think about break in. So i put about 40, ear to ear smile miles on it before I loaded her up to take her home. No bouncing off the rev limiter just didn't even know to keep it under 4k until later on. So they are normal riding miles with some interstate play, Is this ok? Should I start normal break in now?

2. What is normal operating temps? I've seen about 212 or so on interstate in 90+ plus degree weather today. Seems to stay about 190 or so this evening in 77 degree weather.

Break it in how ever you want. It's all conjecture which way is best. I hit the rev limiter three times the first ride on my busa and it's running fine 12 years later. I broke inmy 2008 ZX-14 by the book and it ran well all the years I had it. The point is, it doesn't make a lot of difference. Do what makes you feel the best.

Switch to a full system and I bet it will run 40° cooler. The Gen1 had bars instead of a muneric engine temp display. My 08 with a race exhaust ran one about one bar cooler than it did with the stock exhaust.
