Oil filters, pressure and compatible 14 filters to use?
07/28/09 7:04 PM

I saw this an other articles about oil filters:

"Oil filters, and their selection, can be a mystery to us since we are not able to see how or how well they are working without getting very dirty, hooking up a bunch of instruments, and doing extensive testing on both the filter and the oil. Understanding how the oil filter works with the oil pump to provide the engine with an adequate oil pressure of relatively clean oil at all times is the first step in knowing what filter to use. Most importantly, it is more important to have the correct oil pressure and flow through the engine at all times than having the cleanest oil possible."

I have been looking for other filters than the Kawa OEM and HI Flo 303. Does anyone know of other brands and their numbers that are compatible for the 14?

Or the M1-110, which is the longer mobile1 filter.

Here's the list so far from here and the Bikers site:

Hi-Flo Filtro HF 303
Mobil 1 M1-108 and M1-110
K & N KN 303 Motorcycle filter
automotive K&N is a hp -1008
Fram Ph6017 A
Purolator L14612
Ac Delco PF1237
WIX 51365
Purolator PL14610 : the 14610 and 14612 both work one is a little shorter.
(Good info on shorter filters since the turbo exhaust is right up tight against the filter, with just enough and a tad to remove say the HI-Flo and OEM.)

Hastings LF-113 short and LF- 240f is the longer version. The 113 works good for the m14 and m14 sidewinder for clearance, and the longer filter works good when you need a little extra oil[LSR or street racing]

Napa Gold 1358
Amsoil EAO 103
Synthetic filter media. I would not use for racing. Regular riding it's the best with no degradation.
I would like to use the WIX. Thanks for the part#

I no longer use FRAM after one left my clutch basket filled with fibers from the new Fram. I had to clean the clutch plates of the bad Fram, replace the oil and filter just so my clutch wouldn't slip.

The other thing I will not use is high viscosity oil, which won't flow and cool bearings when its cold. Great way to spin a bearing.

PL14610 extended length oil filter is what I use.
