ZX 14r exhaust
05/07/19 12:46 PM

Bought mine last night. 2015 ZX14r ABS!

Bike is like new but man it is the smoothest bike I have ever ridden! Had a 2005 Hayabusa and a 2008 zx14 and none compare!

Anyway looking to upgrade the exhaust with a full performance one and PC5. I want less weight more performance but I HATE noisy bikes!

What can you suggest and how much weight/HP will I lose and gain? Ballpark is ok. Thanks

Also where to buy????

I have never owned an Akrapovich exhaust but they are highly reputed for performance and weight loss. I'm told they are not extremely loud until you are on the throttle hard. As far as hp gains, it was stated 18 max for the Gen1 so I would expect something similar for the Gen2.

How are the M4 GP exhaust systems?

I know that exhaust for slip-ons. It's a very lightweight muffler. IDK about the total weight spec but I know the slip-on is considered to be rather loud.

Brocks or Akra is used in racing so that's what I'd go with. Only way I would go with anything else for the 14 would be if it was extremely inexpensive. Hard to say what that would sacrifice in hp and weight. Buy the best and buy with confidence. Buy something less than the best and you might just feel the urge to upgrade if you're looking for the best performance.

Brock's Titanium 4-1 system is advertised at 8.25lb. I've read that my 2012 full exhaust weighs 50lb. These cost a few $$$$, but really drops the weight.
Check eBay to see if a used set is available.

8 lbs for the whole system seems impossible but I've heard the same about Brock's. I don't know why you can't google a picture of one on a scale to support that claim. Also Heard Akra is about as light if you get the CF Ti.

Brocks is going to be loud.

Just read this about Akra slip-ons. Loud without the baffle.

The Delkevic Carbon cans slip ons with an ECU flash from schnitz racing might just be the ticket.

I do not think I would be sacrificing too much HP. no???????????

Compared to a full system, I would say yes you are. Look at the dyno charts. They claim about 6-8 hp gain with slip-ons and 15-18 for a full system. Plus a full system is a lot lighter. I have not researched the Gen2 but the Gen1 has a heavy header and it has those balancing tubes between the pipes. I don't how they make a full system header flow better than a stock but the dyno numbers tell the story. Racing people go for a full system.
