Wanted: Hard bags and mount
05/31/15 9:50 PM

Looking at reasonably priced hard bags and corresponding mounts for 1st gen models.

Seeing pretty good deals in fleabay, i would rather try saving couple of hundreds on used ones before pulling the trigger. Anyways i will have to paint to match etc.

I have SWMOTECH mounting brackets with Givi V35 bags.
I hit 140 mph yesterday with no negative effects other than the wind drag,
which you dont realize until you take them off.
I tried to find a deal on used before I caved and placed my order with Twisted Throttle.
couldnt be happier.
it cost me weeks wages, but it was worth the $$

Nice, Thx for the input ridenski,

i guess i am more sport touring than speed demoning guy. To me the bags are more sexy than stretched rears :D

I will definitely be looking at them bags new, no hurry as no trips planned for the coming weeks.

Was wondering if your able to fit a helmet in the v35? I am thinking kappa saddle bags as well. looks more sleeky and less expensive.

Swmoto needs me to cut the fairings right?

I can fit a LARGE size Arai Quantum/e helmet. Extra large helmet will not fit.
If no one responds search craigslist in your area for the V35 bags. Buy the SW-motech brackets new from Twisted throttle.
If you are handy with tools, do the 2002+Suzuki 650 V-strom luggage rack. Adding a trunk will hold any size helmet.
I put my helmet and leather jacket in the trunk.
I've got $60 in the luggage rack.
Givi sells a luggage rack kit, too.

The V35 Givi cases don't come close to acommdating my Shoei RF11 XL helmet.
I have a 55 liter CooCase on a SW Motech rear rack & it'll hold 2 full face helmets no problem.
To install that requires either a Euro ZZR1400 tailpiece or a bit of cuting with a dremel.
I cut and it turned out fine, in spite of my justified apprehension.
Yes the SW Motech requires a bit of cutting, with supplied templates.
I won't lie, I was nervous, but it turned realy great.
I also have the Spiegler LSL handlebar kit.
I now have a awesome, grin inducing, comfy sportourer.
Nice thing with the SW Motech brackets is that I can remove %97 of the bracketry in 3 minutes!

Hey Danno, how do you like that MRA X screen?
I'm 5'10' , the ZGST screen alone has the wind hitting me about mid face shield.
Is the MRA X screen worth the $?

It's nice to have some adjustability, but I ride most of the time with the X-creen wing set parallel to the pavement. That position seems to smooth the flow over the top edge of the ZGST and is quieter at highway speeds than if set more vertical. I'm 6'3", so I can't really get out of the wind, anyway. The X-creen enables control of the windflow and may have a different effect on different windscreens. Sometimes a smooth flow of clean air is preferable to blocking the wind and getting a lot of buffeting and noise.

Also, you may have noticed the blade is not a stock X-creen, it's one I made out of an old, cracked ZG screen, It;s the same thickness (although darker tint) than the ZGST it's mounted to. I thought the X-creen blade looked kinda cheesy.
