Dyno charts questions

Not trying to get into debate over whose flash is better, just looking at performance data in a different way. You choose whomever's flash works for you. Those of you that have dyno charts done stock and after mods, have you seen a difference in time to run, or as to say the time it takes to do say a 4th gear full pull.? As most dyno pulls I'm aware of do mostly 4th gear pulls for hp/trq numbers. What is your differences between stock 4th gear pull vs 4th gear pull after mods? Asking this question because if im reading the charts correctly this would equate to excellaration on the street. I could be wrong but if anyone has more info feel free to elaborate.
Example on my bike with just flys removed, 2 bros slip ons, stock gearing it took say 5.3 seconds to hit redline on dyno. I added pc5 with custom dyno tune. Took took about 5.16 seconds to hit redline. After Romans flash took 5.0 seconds to hit redline. So if I'm reading this correctly, I've gained about 3 tenths of a second in acceleration over my base somewhat stock setup on dyno 4th gear pull. 2 bros were already installed on bike when I got it with 75 miles on it. I can definitely feel the difference on the street. I've put 23k miles on the zx14 in less than 18 months. Along with about 10k miles on my zx10 and 8+ track days on her. I would assume that would be the case in all gears???

I would guess that to some extent the ratio of gain would be the same. But for sure your not going to gain the same .3 in every gear. Or at least those gears below the one (4th) you initially tested in. This would be because the individual gear itself has less "time" from whatever rpm you started at to rev to redline. While fifth and sixth, may actually show more of a "gain" stock vs modded, yet take more time overall due to the ratio and speeds involved. Plus at some point aerodynamics will lessen those perceived gains vs sitting still on a dyno.

Or easier stated, if 4th took 4 seconds from 2K to redline before and you saved .4 of a second, maybe 3rd which took 3 seconds will only save .3.... and 2 and .2 for second gear etc. This is just an example, obviously each gear isn't a perfect jump from one to the next.

FYI this is just my initial thoughts, no actual experience testing this.

I'll give you this that bike of yours gets used. Definitely Not Garage jewelry.

Curious Blkcasper, have you run any other 14's and had them go by you ? Sound like your Not the kind of guy that would back down from a friendly run to redline.

I do know from personal experience that tenths gained on a dyno do not transfer directly to the drag strip. I had a buddy who had his 07 GSXR 1000 tuned by a guy who claimed he could pick up 4 tenths from the tune alone. I scoffed and needless to say this was an impossibility. (Coming from the stock tune anyways). The software showed 3.7 tenths and it ended up being closer to .05 at the track. Half a tenth is invaluable to me, but the software showed a huge gain that simply wasn't applicable to the real world.

LOL..That she is not.. i have a 100 mile round trip commute to work. In the morning most of that I'm haveing to lane split. On the way home its pretty clear and there are couple of curvy back roads i can play on..Usually get out for a 200 - 400 mile ride on the weekend. So I end up doing 500 - 800 miles a week. Good thing California weather is pretty good

Go by me No. Last week went on ride with a buddy with an 09 zx14 piped, geared, pc5, and some other modes, he spends alot of time at the drag track and street races. Did a roll 4th gear on from 40-50mph .. my bike lopes along at around 4k at that speed.( had ktrac set at 1) by the time she spooled to 7k i just pulled and was gone. Once we got to next stop he said he never had a bike pull on him like that LOL... He said he's now a beliver in the 2 Gen 14 and he needs to get some motor work done..

Go by me No.

IMO, You Have done your tests perfectly. A starting place, a middle place and a Ending. Shows that all of your mods have taken the bike in the right direction. Dyno as most of you know is only a tool to see if your mods are going in the right direction.

From what I have read Casper knows Exactly what his gains are on his bike his fuel at his elevation with that days AR, as he has done his all home his work. Paying for that much Dyno time can't be cheap, but yes important if you are in the need to know or street racing for money.

I read lots here but do not see many putting the same amount of work into the science on their bike that Casper has put his. (Me included).

You know, show us a before and after minus the total = your gains. TTD & hp My guess is, you care not about the bragging rights for big HP numbers just the need to know your bike can lay it down Time To Distance when the street race presents itself. Just a guess. But I think I got this one.

2nd you seem to be having more fun his way and at no point have I witnessed you turning anything into a pissing match. Respect !

by the time she spooled to 7k i just pulled and was gone Once we got to next stop he said he never had a bike pull on him like that LOL... He said he's now a beliver in the 2 Gen 14 and he needs to get some motor work done..

More motor work ? $$$$$$$$$$ Trade up ? 1441 motors can be found and fit quite nicely. Last I heard Harry has a few for sale. Shoot me a PM if your buddy is looking and I will put you in touch. Cheers.

Just a quick echo to what has already been said. THE PILOT determines the outcome! When an operator knows how to launch a bike and whirl ahead, it takes MASSIVE horse power to catch and pass this street hooligan. Trick is to break out first jump forward and pull...then gone! It requires smashing Whot, tensing abs, focus, visualization and breathing. It requires a fearless trust of your set up and best of all courage. This is why roll on battles at speed have never appealed to me.

Lol. Wolf I love the poetic way you put things. But my bikes are an extension of myself, we spend alot of time together, when I ride we are one. My wife refers to them as the mistresses in the garage. .lol... I ride then, come home clean them and speak to them in loving tones. I ask of them for speed and excitement, in return they receive loving care and maintenance. There are times when we can't be one one the streets and I just walk out to the garage and give them a hug...may sound sappy but this is my mantra. Or some may say superstition. But it has kept me safe and accident free for many years and miles of riding. Knock on wood. :). Now back to our regular programming

Hey mav, only thing I can assume about your buddies gsxr is that maybe he had some traction issues at the track, maybe in getting power to the ground as relative to the dyno as the the bike is strapped down and traction is not an issue hence difference in perfomance? ??????. IDK??.. I do know on the street with traction control turned off.. im a light weight compared to most,180 suited and I can get her to spin the rear wheel at will or pull up the front wheel at anytime in the lower 3 gears at any speed and I have her stretched 10 inches. The way she's set up now the midrange from 4k to red line is so linear that I just feel a steady pull till shift light starts flashing for next gear. Hopefully if I get some days off I can get to the local 1/4 mile track in Sacramento and do some runs. But my times probably won't reflect what she's truly capable of as im not that great off the line..best I could do on my 06 ZX10 with a 1.7 60' was 10.0 @ 148.. we'll see.

Amen Brother!

As for the poetic lyricism I just call it like I see it. Torque and HP numbers are bullshit without the pilot. Some folks learn that lesson the hard way. Glad to hear your schooling Cali on that point my brotha.

Ps who is the fastest cat on the street scene in Cali these days?

Mad love
W

Na it's more along the lines of the jockey isn't able to reproduce that amount of acceleration. Trust me on the this Casper. The tenths that show up on the dyno DO NOT transfer directly to the 1320'. It's just the way it is.
