Let's just all agree to add something productive to the thread - I don't care if you're attacking me, grn or anyone else on here.... can't we all just get along...?

My impression of the 14R...it's NOT a static machine. This is my second one.I tried before to give my feelings of my bikes...both.This motorcycle is an 'evolutionary' ride. You don't just jump on it and 'now I've got this down'.My riding 'styles' have evolved as I've ridden more and more.On the 14R.Now comes the flashing...and again...it opens up a whole new aspect of this bike.I've been riding the 14 since 2007.I've done alot of different 'mods' over these years. Some good...some not so good. But it all changes....

This bike model...it's way more challenging than any previous ones I had.WAY MORE.With these upgrades...TC...ABS..newer mechanical upgrades...it causes you to rethink things. It definitely performs on a new level. The flash by Romes...it's enhanced this character of this bike almost as much as the difference between the Gen 1 and Gen2.And that's no shit right there. If you want a full on drag bike...you have to mod it so it will be that.If you want a street bike...you have to set it up like that. This flash is top of the line...I can tell ya that.If I say.."I'm happy with it"....I am.VERY.When the machine performs 'differently' than before...that means a lot. It's already a one of a kind bike...now it's even more.

I don't have a PCV on my bike...I took it off a few months ago...AFTER I got the Ivan's flash. It had his mapping in it...I found I didn't need a PC...but that isn't meant to infer that the PC mapping won't enhance the flash. It all produces a different result.I could most likely squeeze a tad more 'whatever' from this Romans flash by using a tuned map that compliments his flash.I don't intend to do that. It's fine just as it is IMO.To someone else...it may feel completely different...either way.I've done some ass dyno comparos around here...since 07.....I know what I feel...regardless of who accepts or agrees or anything else.I would not hesitate in the slightest to recommend Roman's flash to anyone.

Wolf and I were talking about this just this morning driving into work ZX. Your questions about the safety modes have me thinking too. I get what you are saying. Who really knows what was going on with the first pull.... We weren't there to see it done right.... Maybe he had it in TC 1 and the bike was spinning and pulling timing, and once it caught up in the higher rpms you got the actual number??? Then on the final pull the TC was off.
I may order the Akra within a week or so.., if I do I'm going through the same process as Wolf - only difference being, I want to be there watching the first and last dyno pulls so I know everything was done properly and the only difference in the pulls being the addition of the pcv and akra headers.

You see? That's what I mean.Wolf's feelings about his 'new' bike.To Ricky Gadsen...it might feel 'weak'....we can only speak of what we know about OUR experience. Not anyone else's.I think I can get a drift on what Wolf is saying...yes....I've been through now 3 flashes with the 14R....and a stock ECU as well.I'm no expert...but each one has upped the performance of this bike in pretty noticeable ways. That's for sure.If I went with an Akra Header...I'd probably feel even MORE excited...if that was possible. But I'm very happy with it as is...I just want to have a great running bike that's reliable and fun to ride.I have that....don't get me wrong...the stock configuration is totally a blast.Well above any factory bike in this class...which is pretty narrow actually.

Wolf i will close with this..........I agree with you 100% because of this.......with romans flash and that guys tuning skills you definitely have one of the nicer dyno charts I've seen. She is a fuckin beast no denying that fact. Thanks to all of you guys...green....beast....and wolf for putting up with all my questions and answering all back. I might be a pain in the ass sometimes but as wolf always says.....MAD LOVE and I mean no disrespect to any of you guys. You guys make my day just being able to bullshit with you all! !!!! Ps. I'm still going to try and get the romans flash!!! And green and extra apology to you..... I'm sorry for coming off as an ass.

Nah bro...it's okay...I don't feel pissed or bad about any of it.There's one person here that knows what I mean when I say...'it's an evolution with this bike'...HUB(among others...but he's mentioned it a few times). This thing is way more complicated than any before it.Flashing this bike and getting it right is a serious challenge.SO MANY VARIBLES to work with....the systems on this machine are so integrated....when you get it right...you've truly accomplished something.

Awesome thread! Awesome thread all of y'all! Fuckin awesome knowledge IS being gained because people are openly sharing what we know. Fing awesome. This thread about Romes flash is excellent, we learn more about the bike and its behavior. Wolf and Grn's reviews are top shelf. I read every word, then I try to put myself IN their shoes in the context of riding the bike. I WANT THAT FEELING! :))) I know what grn is sayin, 'feels lighter than it should', and exactly what wolf says when he cracks that throttle and howls! And Beast! Lets remember beast is an authority on these big fast bikes. His impressions and seat of the pants feel are on point! I want a Romans flash! I haven't gotten one yet because of budget, and down time, and the pain in the ass the lady at the post office gave me when I tried to explain to her what I was shipping. FYI don't tell the post office you are shipping an 'electronic brain'. They call the feds! :))

Eh, ardent enemies one day, best friends the next. That's just archetypal behaviour of good men. That's what differentiates the boyz from the men. It's always about the intellectual position and not the intellectual - although in some cases the definition of intellectual is either broad or narrow. All good boyz - conflict and controversy are the best teachers. I'd know, I was forged in it!

Let me understand this correctly, greenie, that 12 to 2 o'clock 'clack' on your chain is one small link for man, one giant weak link for mankind is kind enough to go thru the case or wad the rear wheel or spit out the back. Get my drift the chain parks itself on the back wheel?

Now back to our regularly scheduled program...

Grn, are you saying that just a Romes flash out performs Ivan's map and flash? I'm getting lost you keep swapping undiesocks, I can't keep up with the mods of sprockets and sockets, windshield glass is and Roman flashes.

Hey guys waiting on romans to answer my pm. But a few questions, how much does he charge for his flash if anything. And is it a pain to ship from the us to Canada and I guess I need to insure it for both ways?

Hub..it can't be the chain...it's doing it(when it does)at the twelve position every revolution.EVERY revolution.I think me 'seeing it' clunk off the 12 was me not looking at the sprocket correctly...I hadn't marked the nut at that time. You say the chain 'walks' around that complete cycle of front and rear sprockets and at a certain point...it's back to hitting the matching teeth front and back...right?I gotcha on that. But it's not doing that...it's clunking at every 360 of the rear wheel. That's the weird part...since I can't really tell where it's coming from when it does that...on the sprocket..or the turn,or whatever...I can't find a smoking gun anywhere. The teeth all look fine. The chain looks fine.If it were a tooth hanging up...I'd see it.If it were a link binding,I'd feel it the way I used my hand on the bottom run to push the links up just as they leave the bottom heading towards the front.I can feel it through the hub and all with my hand...so it's kinda pronounced...when it does it.On that left side.Same spot every time...except when it doesn't do it.I may go several revolutions...then it'll start again. If I spin it faster...it goes away. And going the other direction...it's hit or miss whether it'll clunk...but always at the 12 when it does. The only 'matching' thing could be...the tone wheel.Or the rotor...but the rotor is doing fine...it's not interfering. My 2012 didn't do this...and...it didn't have ABS either.??????

If it was a link...then every link would eventually be doing it...seeing how the chain rotates around the sprockets and comes back to the factory static over so many revs.Right?No...I don't think it's a link...as much as that would be a good resolution. With the chain 'walking' the sprockets...the 'noise' should be moving along the rear sprocket circumference. It isn't.It's the same sound and same spot each time.

Did you check yours?I'd be curious to see if they both do it.

I didn't try spinning yet without the chain on there...I will.

"Grn, are you saying that just a Romes flash out performs Ivan's map and flash?"....no...I'm saying...performs differently."outperforms" is not an accurate description. They're two different flashes. For two separate wants.I removed the PCV and was running the Ivan's flash without it for a few months here...In all honesty...I 'felt' no real difference with it in there...but some things you don't see...like fueling or whatever. Now with the Brock's flash and PCV map...yes...you could feel a difference. With and without. On either scenario...I did NOT run the pcv ONLY....I only had the one ecu at the time. With the Guhls flash. With my 2013...I used my extra stock ecu(which I bought in like march of this year) while Ivan flashed the other one from my 2013.Same as with now...I used the factory ECU whilst Romes flashed the 2013 for me.The 2012(which I no longer have) and 2013 ECU's are NOT setup to run both models.I found that out.Though it ran seemingly fine motorwise...with the 2012 in there(factory,unmodded)...it did not activate the abs like I'd hoped. The brakes worked...but no abs.

Okay...I've had time now to run Rome's flash to get a 'second opinion'.The results? This deal here is viciously cool. This bike has never run this smooth...in all rpm ranges. It's feeling even better than it did yesterday.Though I know nothing changed. He said I'd "get used to it" in a couple of hours.I have to say...it's got so many 'new' attributes unfolding as I ride that I may NEVER get used to it.Honestly...this bike is a kick!Truth here...it feels much 'sportier' and tight with this flash that it's amazingly different than the stock config OR the Ivan's flash. And no PCV.Only Yosh slips.I want to thank Romans again for doing this thing right. It IS right.Totally.Smoother than factory. It is.Immediate power and clicking shifts...with and without clutch...upshifts,downshifts.Virtually NO vibration in any rpm or gear range...just totally smooth and refined and responsive.I love it!Way glad I let Romes at her.WAY.

I can't really 'explain' the way she's taking corners...but she feels a lot more stable and flickable.Could be the engine is truly set now for responsive throttling and all...IDK...whatever he did...it works...wonderfully.

I know the Mags mentioned something about the 14R "builds power so smoothly and effortlessly"...They didn't know it could be actually enhanced....Great job Romes

Romes your fan base is growing.

I'm in shock to be honest with you. Started off with just wanting you guys to see what she can really do. I must also say I am honored that you guys that have tested the real world results feel the same way I do. She is a great bike just a little choked off from being all she can be. Thanks Again guys.

I could not have described it any better. Grn thank you and I'm very happy you like it. Kawi gave us a great bike to work with. Having two diff flashes at the tip of your thumb is also very unique. Awesome really

It's not the only 14R in Thailand, but there sure aren't too many of them (I've never actually seen another on the road- insane import taxes don't make it an attractive buy)- I would bet it's the only gen-2 with a full exhaust and PC-V in the country at the moment- I'd bet a LOT it's the only one that's flashed...
